He's pretty much the poster child for the bad things about our government. Sadly, in an election he'd get re-elected in a landslide. Another example of why democracy is doomed to fail when those doing the voting are idiots.

Not only does that explain Rangel, it explains GWB, Reagan, and so many others.

So which President outside of Nixon had such indictments against them in modern times?

Heck, I don't like Bush at all, but in terms of corruption he failed. Rangel made more money off his position than any of those you could mention. Mega apartments on subsidy rates etc. He's a regular Tammany Hall.

No, it's not odd. Dems never get in trouble. In fact, the accusers are racist: both Maxine Waters and Charlie, cmon.

Neither are racists , sheesh.

The rumblings is because both of them backed Hilary Clinton, you know the "black candidate".

I wish he would go away, but I find it curious as to why the hearing is scheduled the day before the Nov. election.

I would guess it's to be used as leverage to get them to drop the charges against him so that it doesn't reflect in the voting.

I don't understand that either. He should resign because it doesn't sound too good. Maxine Waters I don't get though. So her husband was on some bank board. Just everyone in congress is married to some person on some board.

So, her husband was not only on the bank board, he also personally owned a lot of stock in the bank and stood to gain or lose a lot based on how the bank did. The bank was in horrible shape, horribly mismanaged and should not have gotten anything, but after a few calls were made miraculously got lots of tarp money. You do the math.

Thanks. I didn't think it looked right, but I must have found a different word or I found the gentile version on dictionary.com

No problem.

As for Rangel, he kind of reminds of me that buffoon Jim Traficant at this point. I think people like them love themselves so much that they're unwilling to do what is best for their party or their country. They aren't the only ones, of course.

I think it's pretty obvious they don't serve the people. They serve themselves, and they feel entitled to their position.

Fixed that for ya. If you think it's just the democrats or just the republicans that are corrupt, you're a naive partisan hack.

Charlie, Maxine, Bill and Hill, Geitner, Kennedy, Byrd, Blago, Pelosi, Reid, Jackson, Spitzer, William Jefferson, Barney Frank, Chris Dudd, Kilpatrick, Obama, Patterson, Gore, Kerry, Edwards, Murtha + 90% of the Obama administration and that's just recent history that comes to mind, I'm sure that I'm leaving out plenty of the good ol' boys.

Have we ever had so many corrupt politicians in such a short political cycle? The sad part is these are the most ethical people in the Democratic party (per Pelosi).

The Republican party has it's share of people that should be behind bars but the Democratic party as a whole makes the Republicans look like Boy Scouts, I'm sure we have plenty of jails through out the US that don't have the quantity or quality of criminals that the Democratic party has in it's ranks.
