Eminem is an EXCELLENT rapper. AND his whiteness is actually a HINDRANCE to his acceptance to the actual hip-hop world he rose to prominence in. He'll never truly be considered a great like Biggie, Nas, Tupac, LL, Dr. Dre or the others, even though everyone in the rap world believes he is. The MTV kids like his records, and he knows it-but it's not because he's white, that's for sure. Lyrically, he's pretty much tops. Now, there are a lot of underground guys that are sicker than him, but he's definitely no slouch. His lyrics are hateful and stuff? Yeah, I suppose...but in this generation, does anyone really care?

Again, Eminem=excellent rapper.

eminem is gay. he is the vanilla ice of this decade. i.e. he is popular because he is white.

You have no clue.

Everyone in the rap world?, what exactly are you smoking?. If you knew what you were talking about you would know that large percent of rappers think he degrades the genre, his type is why rap is hated by so many people. He is completely crude and violent and has the most malign attitude of any rapper I've ever heard, or any person I've MET for that matter. None of the rappers you mentioned have ever come CLOSE to being as disrespectful or degrading as he has. His "whiteness" along with his shi**y attitude is ALL that makes him anything that he is today. If he was black everyone on this green earth would simply hate him. Why dont you actually listen to some Bigge, Nas or TuPac, then try and tell me he has anything in common with the group. You comparing him to any of the rappers you mentioned aside from Dre.(there is absolutely no heart to his music, even though the beats are awesome, he talks about jack sh*t), is a frikin crime. Lyrically he is sh*t, hardly any rappers are lyrically tops, not even Nas hits the spot and he's been around forever. There are an insane amount of guys out there that can rap better than eminem, and actually have something worth talking about. In this generation who cares?, why dont you go talk to moby, or the hundreds of people that were booing eminem at the VMAs when he was talking crap to moby. I know plenty of guy's that want to beat eminems a**. I'm not even going to say anything else to you though, it's clear your sucked into the crap that MTV throws at you, I guess you consider ludacris to be "tops" to?

Eminem's lyrical stylings transcend race which has been said by many greats on the scene...

But HEY! The guy IS in Anger Management Classes...

Go Marshall...3 Moon Men...

"...Nobody wants to see Marshall no more, they want Shady - I'm Chopped Liver..."

Make up your mind ace, if you didn't know: Eminem's beats = Dre's beats.

I love Eminem simply because it's a refreshing change from crap like Nelly ("I.....am.......number one.....unh" ??!) His lyrics actually do make sense and while I don't believe in much of what he has to say, that's fine. I'll simply enjoy the music and the beats and the rhyming.

although I think that Eminem is good, there are alot of less mainstream artists who are alot better

He has talent, don't take that away from him.
So does the guy I see in the subway who can play guitar, drums with his feet, and harmonica all at once. That does not mean they both don't suck.

Ok. I lied. It's not just about the beats. Part of the reason why I listen to Em is because he's everything in the world I'm glad I'm not and have no intention of becoming. Probably my favorite Tupac song is "Hit Em Up" for exactly the same reason. Both rappers provoke aggression inside of me which other music doesn't and that's not always a bad thing (although too many people use it to do bad things).

Too many people get the impression that mainstream=bad. It's funny, because as much as both Moby and Eminem hate pop culture and try to shy away from it or attack it, both of them are completely in the center of pop culture. That's ok though, I still listen to both their music (well, Moby's older stuff that is. I can't stand 18)

But car crashes are what make Nascar fun! Otherwise it's just "let's see which redneck can drive around in a circle the fastest THIS week."

I was watchig some show on MTV about rap, and Eminem was called by some famous rapper (can't remember who) the second best lyrical freestyle rapper second only to Notorious BIG. He said the first time he saw Em freestyle he thought he was black and was shocked to see a white guy on stage. I think his raps are pretty good.

Definitly Eminem. :disgust: It doesn't help that as a solo artist, he carries some stupid 'posse' with him everywhere too.

Yup. Unlike a LOT of rappers out there right now, this guy actually had to WORK to showcase his talent. Can you imagine this white guy walking into a crowd trying to convince them that he can rap? The memories of Vanilla Ice make people all the more skeptical. And no, he's not the next Vanilla Ice. ;)

Eminem is very talented. That said, he needs to stop whining about his life in his music. I didn't like his new record, it was just more whining and bitching about his past.

I'm not a rap fan (and certainly not an Eminem fan), but putting Enimen in the same category as Tupac, or NAS, is rather absurd.

That would really be like comparing Britney to Madonna. I don't care for either of their music, but it's obvious who has "staying power", and who does not.

Actually, Eminem produced or co-produced a lot of the songs on his Em Show album.

yes, coder1, what did josh ever do to deserve a comment like that?

anyways, I think it would've been interesting to see what would've gone down with Triumph and Eminem... It would've been funny to see Triumph clown on him. Didn't that happen last year too? Or was that just with Carson?

And how popular is he? Outside MTV and the record industry promotional scams, who gives a damn? In a year when the most popular songs come from 16-year old girls singing about their boyfriends, the whole thing is pointless. They could have given all the awards to Will Smith and it would make no difference.
