In my mind, having even one file composed of over 9000 ("nine thousand") fragments warrants defragmenting, despite the MMC's advice. Those of you with the ability to look this up (NT only, I assume), how many fragments in your most scattered file? And what size is it?
To check this, analyze your HDD with the defrag plugin, and hit "View Report", it should have a list of the most fragmented files.
I'm curious to see how bad some files get.

I have 4 drives, well, 2 physical, one is partitioned into 3 parts..so...

12 gb OS Drive: C: 30mb avi that has 379 fragments. The drive is 8% fragmented

60 gb storage drive:
11 gb partition D: 20mb exe that has 590 fragments. The drive's 13% fragmented
22 gb partition E: 696 mb avi file that has 61,897 fragments :Q drive is 24% fragmented
22 gb partition F: 19 mb rar file has 1403 fragments. and it's 14% fragmented

Time for me to degrag, I think.

and about 15 others that are 1,000+ fragments

on my file server, everything is pretty fragment free

Two of my mandrake ISO's both have 10,000 plus fragments each. The third mandrake ISO has 9,000 plus fragments.
