Just started on the wifi thang late last year so a lot of stuff are still alien to me >.< So far my router is awesome and signals are strong and the router configuration page is great cept for the manual duirng installation! On my router configuration page under system set up there are 3 options to pick on what mode i want the router to run:

1) Home Gateway (selected by default)

2) Router

3) Access Point

Which of these mode is best for me? I have 3 Desktops and a laptop in my network. PC with biggest hard disk downloads most stuff and shares out one of its drive to the rest. I have tried goggling about access point mode but i am still unclear? Thanks to anyone who could help me

P.s Also there is an 'afterburn' function and WMM enabling - what setting should optimise my SOHO? Am using the Asus WL-520GU

Networking is Not like the Overclocking, and Video frames Pushing.

If it work well leave the Router setting on default, and change only the setting that are need for proper function (like Wireless security).

if you already have a wired network that has internet access, choose access point mode.

In access point mode, you leave the WAN port (on your wireless router) empty, and plug one of the "internal" ports into your existing network. Thats it.

When you connect via wireless to your access point, it will be functionally equivalent to plugging an ethernet cable into your old network (before the wireless AP was in the picture).

As far as settings, a good rule to go by is: if you don't know what it means, leave it at the default setting.

default except for SSID default name should change to something else.

Thanks guys! Turns out i had to directly apply your tips as the modem supplied by my BB died on me a couple on days ago! Set the new modem as PPPoE and wireless router in AP and everything worked smoothly and quickly ^^
