I went to the muffler store today....(should i get duel exhaust???)

I have a 4.3 leater vortec v6 and i priced a two chamber flowmaster with turndowns and they sayd it would sound good!!! $136+tax does anyone here have a v6 with dual exhaust?
i have the money ready to go and i am gonna make an appontment tomm...depending on what you guys and gals say tonight...so...should i do it or not???

$136?! It costs $260 for a standard exaust on my Accord and $400+ for an OEM. I have a hard time believeing that you will be getting a quality exaust for $136. That's not to say it will not sounds good, but don't be surprised if it only lasts 2 years. A good non-stainless system should last 5-6 years and stainless should last almost forever. On the plus side, all else being equal, a dual exaust is better for an engine with more than 4 cylinders, so you should get a little bit more power (maybe 5 hp if you're lucky). There's really no way to tell how it will sound unless you try it out, but I think it will sound alright.

I won't be a true dual unless you have 2 seperate pipes running down the middle of your truck from the exhaust manifolds right down through the 2 mufflers and 2 seperate tips at the back.....

Otherwise they'll just split it either @ the muffler or just after the cats and give you a "poverty" dual exhaust....

What you probably got quoted for is a muffler with dual outlets and tips. The flowmaster 50 series are supposed to have an nice deep rumble while keeping the power of the 40's....the 40's are made to be loud (but tinny sounding)

It will sound better, V6's dont have the deep throaty rumble V8's do, but they can be made to sound close .. and can sound good in there own way.

Seems kinda cheap though !

I never liked the sound of dual exhaust on anything but a V-8, but everyone has their preferrences. V6 always sounded like a loud motorcycle to me.

For that price, it's just from the Cat back....all it will do is add weight.....If it were true duals, I'd go for it...

I'm not a fan of flowmaster. I like Borla's sound a lot better. My friend has FM's on his Blazer, and on a highway drive when you have a headache, MAN does that suck

I have a 87 Caprice Classic. It has a 305 in it, with a 4 barrell Quadrajet. I got new exhaust ( cat back 2.5" 2 chamber Flowmaster) Let me tell you. I took off the cat and straight piped it to my muffler and man is it loud. It was sooo much more throaty when I got rid of the cat. here in Fladida, we dont have emissions checks

Get 2.5" and a flowmaster. Then take off your cat and put in a piece of straight pipe

I've been a manager of a muffler shop for the last 20 yrs. Depending on what's legal in your state, straight pipe is the way to go. The Cat Convertor does a good job of muffling the noise, but will let it talk when you get into it. You might ask the guys at the muffler shop if they use glasspack "blanks" (no ends already welded on)-it's real easy to cut the spotweld holding the baffle in, remove the baffle & fiberglass, run pipe all the way through- end result looks like you have a muffler installed

Cost me around 190 for the Flowmaster, and all new piping. $15 bux, an acetalyne torch, and 4 hours later I had it done! (removing the cat)
