I went to Six Flags of Georgia this week...

Scarpozzi

They have a new rollercoaster called Goliath...it's pretty good. If you get a chance this season, you should check it out, but show up early or use the flash pass. The line was pretty long.

No inversions....it's just a LARGE steel rollercoaster with plenty of good sized drops. It doesn't have anything on Cedar Point....but it's pretty exciting for only being 100 miles from me. 😀

Sounds like the same one in California, north of LA. It's a huge supercoaster. But the best one there is X, you should look it up... 😀

Lucky dog. I've been nowhere in years.

Oh and Top Thrill Dragster FTMFW at Cedar Point.....that ride is INSANE......420 feet 120-125MPH......it's like sex but you can have it anytime you want when you are at the park. Especially since I'm going when the park opens in may.....no lines can ride it over and over and over

Hmmm, thought 6 flags bought them, guess not. Millennium Force was pretty good, nearly crapped my pants on TT Dragster tho lol.

you do know Cedar Point is owned by Cedar Fair and not Six Flags, right?
and lines, thats the thing I am able to dodge since I am afforded the option of spring and fall visits since I am a local and don't have to take vacations to go there for a day. I live an hour away in Toledo, so thats always nice. summer is something I avoid because of said lines.

that ride, truely is insane. its so fast, but thats the point. its like a quickie, with no buildup or coming down. its boom, and its over like that. the height is there for show and compactness since you dont even get to enjoy the height. you just stair straight down after hitting the top and spiral and already at the ground again. mmmmm i miss dragster, cannot wait till monday may 8th. senior skip day, and first monday its opened. will go one or two more weekdays during that month too. best days are during the weekdays, and then the sundays during fall. i love hitting up dragster 3 times in a row in a span of a half hour. thats the best i've been able to do though. will have to top that this year. i so hope i can at least, this fall could be tricky with me being in columbus for college and not toledo.

what happened was Cedar Fair bought Geauga Lake from Six Flags.

btw that Goliath ride at SF over Georgia actually looks kinda nice and a different concept for a floorless. A no-inversions floorless is kind of weird, but looks like a nice and quite large hypercoaster.
I'm hoping Cedar Point gets another coaster for 2007 (been too long now, I don't want the thing they just put in, another swing thrill ride), and I really hope it has inversions. Haven't had inversions for a LONG time. Mantis was the last one. Since then were Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Dragster. I want some upside-down goodness.

I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain (in Valencia, CA, just north of Los Angeles) yesterday. Pretty good park. They have GOLIATH there too, but it's been open for a while.

And contrary to what some people say, it's not overcrowded at all. Many of the rides were just 5 minute waits (with the exception of the rides where only one car could go on the track, i.e. Superman (which is an awesome ride btw)).

I'm just like you, I'm 30 minutes north of you in Toledo, so a drive to CP is 90 minutes. I'm also excited since admission is only 39.95 this year but I'll still buy a season pass....dragster in may is amazing.

EDIT: Perhaps I'll join you on May 8th if I'm not working that day 😛

I went during the first year they had the top thrill dragster. That is the best ride I've ever been on, although I had to wait in line for an hour or two. Have they worked most of the kinks out of it yet. When were in line they had to stop it for maintenance about every 30 minutes.

My cousin and I once went to Six Flags over Georgia on a day when there was apparently some HUGE convention for the deaf there. Seriously. It was a week day before school had let out for the summer and we were one of the very few non-deaf people (outside employees) in the whole park. It was the strangest thing to be standing in those long, winding lines with hundreds of people around you yet to have it be absolutely DEAD silent because no one was talking.

the goliath at SFMM is a different Goliath. Similarities are they are both hypers sharing a very similar height, but different layout. Goliath at SFMM seems more intense than SFOG's Goliath, thanks to the 4g helix.

it is indeed much smoother these days, but it still has its days where it won't be as reliable and other days where its pretty much out for the day. it got to the point recently where there was a sign in the front of the park saying whether or not it would be open for the day. last year when I went it was reliable except for one or two of the days where it was down half the day. both days i got to ride it once in the morning or middle of the day and it was down for the evening.
i can only imagine how KingdaKa is due to its more powerful system. But that hill looks like so much more fun compared to Dragster.

Last 6 Flags I went to was Six Flags Great America when I was living in CA. Netscape rented out the entire park on halloween and I got to ride everything for free and there were no lines!!!! (My dad worked for Netscape at the time)

Try it first thing in the AM when they open.. a few lucky (?) ones get a rollback from near the top and get it backwards... damned scary it was. When it worked right it was a blast tho

i've been dying to get a rollback. it happens every now and then, no matter the time. they usually overcompensate in the engine room in the morning to make sure it clears it because of the cold track. most likely rollbacks are in the late fall though, at least thats when i notice it the most. who knows if there is any time other than morning in general that it has a better chance. just seems to happen randomly throughout the day.
a friend of mine had it rollback 3 times in a row before finally clearing for him. im insanely jealous of him too. lol

I was thinking about checking it out since I only live a couple of miles away but every time I go there seems to be a basketball dribbling convention going on. Thousand of kids bouncing balls driving me closer to insanity and mass murder................

Thank god for the Q-bot........

I saw a program on the Travel Channel (cable) that showed different roller coasters and one that looked awesome was at one of the 6 Flags parks. It was called Superman-something-or-other. You actually are suspended like you are flying. You're hanging horizontally (belly towards the ground) with the harness holding you in. That one REALLY looked like fun!
