Not good.

i always thought that my bad posture was causing my back problems. according to this guy, my BACK is causing my bad posture.

lack of curves in my back is keeping me from sitting and standing straight.

anyway, this guy is the most thorough chiropractor i've ever been to.

Going to a chiropractor causes you to need to go to a chiropractor.

Can you say "quack"?

and why would an orthopedic be any more objective than a chiropractor?

about 3 years ago, i saw a chiropractor. he located certain subluxations and we proceeded with treatment. i received treatment for about 4 months. after the 4 months i quit going because of time restraints. i was much much better for about 18 months. lately i've started to feel some of the same problems that sent me to the chiropractor in the first place. i couldn't get a hold of my first chiropractor so i went to this other guy. guess what, he found most of the same subluxations. i saw my first set of xrays (from first chiropractor) and my 2nd set of xrays (from 2nd chiropractor) and my problems aren't as bad as they were originally but i still have problems in my back.

that's enough for me to continue treatment.

Chiropractic is not for everyone. For some it does nothing, for others it's a miracle. I fall into the latter category.

I have a disc bulge at S1-L1. This is verified by MRI. I also have some problems with my C2-C3 due to a motorcycle accident in 1987. I also have a problem with my Sacral joint on the left side...apparently, the ligaments on that side are a bit more "stretchy" and my left Ilium goes lateral against the joint, causing a helluva lotta pain.

I dealt with all this w/modern medicine (heat compresses and drugs when it got bad...I liked the drugs...) for many years.

Finally, I went to see a Chiro. The adjustments combined with electro-stim therapy works wonders. Granted, the relief is only for about 48-72 hours, but isn't that better than pain 24/7? I say yes.

Musculoskeletal pain is caused by bones going out of place and torquing muscles the wrong way and pinching nerves. Chiropractic treatments realigns bones the way they should be, relieving the pinch, ergo the pain.

He also uses pressure points to relieve pain. Rember "The Vulcan Pinch" that Spock had? Like that, except in weird places...behind the knee (that hurts!) and between the shoulder blades. It hurts when he does it, but the pain relief is immeditately apparent afterwards.

It's worked for me and I recommend it. It's better than walking around stoned all the time...even though that is fun, that's just treating the symptom and not the cause.

You all should combine the chiro visits with a visit to a *GOOD* massage therapist. Getting an alignment is great, but it's not so great if your muscles pull them out of place again.

My wife wanted to go to a Chiro for some chronic back pain, I talked her into going to a massage therapist instead.

No more back pain and a hell of a lot less visits than to a chiro.

It doesn't sound like he was interested in being medicated or cut open, so an Orthopedic wouldn't be able to offer him much.

Often times simple exercises will cure back pain. A painful lower back is often a sign of a weak lower back. And 9 times out of 10, back pain is muscular, not skeletal.

My dad suffered through drugs, surgury, more drugs at the hand of an Orthopedic Dr. Never received relief and we are talking about 20 years of agonizing pain. He saw a chiropractor and after a two visit examination to verify _exactly_ what he could and could not do (based on prior surgury, etc.) treatement began and started to reap rewards, immediately.

On maintenance, I go 4x per year. When I go off maintenance, I can go about 9 months. They symptoms slowy return and at around 9 months they get so bad they are intollerable. Shoulder pain, headaches, back stiffness, pain in my hip and aches in my legs ... all solved through the therapudic touch of a Chiropractic Dr.

My aunt is a chiropractor, graduated valedictorian of her class. I go see her every 2 or 3 weeks, whenever my neck starts hurting. I feel so good after that.

Anyhow, I don't think chiropractors can cure cancer or anything, but a lot of people get pain relief from it. Hell, even my regular doctor goes to see my aunt and the massage therapist that works in her office because surgery on her back didn't relieve the pain. If people want to regularly visit a chiropractor instead of regularly refilling their pain meds, why bother them?

My lower back used to pain me from time to time. I'd even "tweak" myself once in a while so that I'd get this weird, painful numbness down one of my legs.

Lost some weight, and no more back pain.

Lower back pain is usually a function of weak abdominal muscles. However in my case i know for a fact that it isn't. i can still do 50 crunches / minute. my abdominal strength has never been a problem for me.
