Omg it's so hard! I could picture myself hitting everything that moves. My pappy took me to the library parking lot (library + Easter = closed) and I drove in circles and made some turns crap it's so much harder than in the arcades. I didn't have my temps on me so luckily no cops came. Wee!

I didn't find it to be hard at all when I was learning :) the only obstacle I faced was learning how to drive a manual, and that was cake because I learned on a honda :)

I found it pretty easy when I started driving too. Actually it was a little harder when I got my license and (later) my second car, which was a large boat...still have trouble getting its successor into parking spaces sometimes. :p

(It doesn't help that there are always huge trucks parked a foot past the side of their spot around here too...)

First time driving wasn't that hard and I had to start out in the streets too. None of that parking lot stuff. It'll be fine once you get use to it. Easier too once you dont have someone breathing down your neck.

Tell us where you live so we can stay off the roads there please.

I can just see the kiddies that gew up playing the new grand theft auto games learning to drive... *shudder*.

My first obstacle, like the FIRST day I started driving, was just letting the wheel straighten itself after a turn. I kept trying to make it straight again myself. Then after you get on the roads some it's pretty easy from there. But you'll be learning for YEARS. The basics come quick; it's learning how to drive smart and learning how to observe EVERYTHING that takes months and years of practice.

Well if I said 15 you guys would report me and if I said 16 I would be lying. So  cheers!

The hardest part is learning how hard you need to hit the brake and accelerator. I busted my brain up a bit lurching back and forth with the brakes. Even on idle speed when you hit the brakes hard enough you get rattled up nicely.

Don't worry. All it takes is experience. I'll admit, when I first got my licenses, I wasn't no where near qualified to drive. Luckily for me, not too much trouble came from that. After about 2 years of driving, I am very confident in my ability with the vehicle.

All you need to do is drive more, get familiar with the enviroment, get used to the vehicle, and you'll be ready sooner or later.

Yes, trouble back in the day, now that I've had some extensive exposture to shift knobs, I'm a master when it comes to stick shifts ;)

Maybe you need to hook a x-box or ps2 controller to the steering? :D

... I claim the patent!!!! :p

Heh...I drove my brother's Camaro for a few months while my car was having constant starting problems that I was working on... After I got back into mine, I barely tapped the brakes and I would stop almost immediately, lurch forward in my seat, etc.

Now that I think about it, I think my brother's car just has crappy brakes. :p

Edit: And a few weeks ago, he rear-ended some guy because he couldn't stop fast enough, so it is probably the brakes (well, and that he's only had his license for like two months). Luckily it was minor damage...

Get your permit and get on the streets. You'll learn quicker than driving around a parking lot. But don't be stupid and be careful, don't get on the highway too quickly.

haha

I used to (almost) stare at the speedometer when I was first starting out. I grew out of that quickly, but now I wouldn't need to anymore anyway - my car projects an image of a digital speedometer onto my windshield. :D

Come to think of it, I don't think I glanced at the speedometer more than once. I noticed I wasn't going more than 10mph at the most and looking at the speedometer ain't worth it :D

You will get used to it!

Just be aware of morons on the road and check your blind spots always!
