I'm going to open up a cafe, the location I'm looking at already has a liquor license so I'm interested in the answers too.

Umm...good luck with that.

Still, I suppose it could be a good way of making money, if you know what you're getting into.

But I doubt YOU do.

My question to the bar frequenting folk here (minedo, i'm looking at you)....

What makes your favorite drinking establishment your favorite and why?

I've narrowed down the name to: Pat's, named after my irish friend Pat, who drinks so much he's going to keep me in business for my inevitably rough first two years or The best damn pet shop in town.

Your thoughts?

You're an asshat who can't afford the liquor license. /thread

Owning your own business requires taking responsibility for yourself, and your business, completely. Something you have proven time and time again you are utterly incapable of doing.

Also takes money and credit which he has none. But it's always fun to dream.

He can always burn his dad's house down, or try to take advantage of another corporation.

Uncle Al's Rules of The Road....This one apllies to bars....... Never book yourself at a club that is more than 4 turns from any main road. No one but the regulars will be able to find it.

This means if you want to attract people from outside your local zip code, make it accessible.

Oh yeah... Use PLYwood behind the sheetrock in the men's john.

In his insurance claim he'll list five pallets of Dell laptops and 10 pallets of Dell LCD's destroyed in a fire.

I like my favorite bar because it's not run by people who scam insurance companies and aren't total slimeballs.

What's all this from? What did I do to scam an insurance company?

You do not understand the difference between winning a battle, and winning a war.

People can call you out on not believing you about something, and you throw it in their face, that you did, as if you have won.

But in the greater scheme of things, those little victories you win, only serve to make you more of a douchebag.

So, because no one here can *prove* you're committing insurance fraud, you win favor in no one's eyes by proving to one person that you didn't.

You're like OJ. We all know you're a bastard, and you think that because your hand doesn't fit in the glove, that we're all going to change our minds about you.

my favorite place to go was really a pool hall... comfortable, lots of games, attractive bar staff, good food... in order i guess i'd say:

food
attractive bar staff
games
comfortability

oh, and by comfortable, i just mean like plenty of seating, wouldn't feel intimidated to walk all around or interact with other patrons... i guess that last one is really more based on who your patrons are, as opposed to the style of your bar.. oh yeah, and gimick nights, this one bar that my friend goes to with her friends does a pub quiz, where they just ask trivial pursuit questions and the winning team wins free beer.. sounds fun to me!

Before you dream such big dreams, you should be aware of the waiting list / cost of a liquor license. In some places I've seen it go as high as 50K and a few years on the list .

You havent had knob creek. That stuff beats the hell out of goose or stoli.
How ****** arrogant can you get? How do you know what I've had or not had? I'd wager that I'm quite a bit older than you. Your little alcohol "discoveries" are nothing new to most of us.

And you fail at reading comprehension. I quoted YOU, n00b. You posted that less than two months ago. So in two months you've gone from "alcohol is the debbil" to "I'm going to open a bar!"

You have some growing up to do son.

Those fake Irish Pubs are all over. Call it Rum Runners or the Speak Easy.
