I watched over 8 movies this weekend

I went to rent a movie at Hollywood Video this weekend, and I got the MVP pass. I decided to catch up on all the movies that I haven't gotten to watch in the last year that I wanted to watch since this was the first weekend I had that I had no responsibilities in a while.

Man! I didn't get anything done. Now I remember why I stopped watching movies. 2-2.5 hours of time I could've spent better. 16-20 hours over the last 3 days.... <shudder>. I still can't believe I did that. Crazy.

Ok well, give this cloud a silver lining. Help out your fellow ATOT'ers. What did you watch and what ones would you recommend? What ones sucked? Reviews man!

this weekend i watched:

A Clockwork Orange
Eyes Wide Shut
Dr. Strangelove: or how i learned to stop worrying and love the bomb (i think that's the name)
FFVII advent children
breakfast at Tiffany's
Memento

edit: reviews below
I went on a stanley kubrick spree this weekend 😛
Breakfast at Tiffany's kinda sucked, I only watched it b/c Ive heard a lot about it. (But i was working on the comp while i was watching so i dont know, it may have been better if i was into i)

Memento= a classic
FFVII = sweet sweet action, storyline is ass
Eyes wide shut = something I would never watch with anyone else, but intriguing none the less. Only to ATOT would i admit ive seen the show 😛
I loved a clockwork orange- I love the main characters part he plays. He does it perfectly. but again, another show i would never watch with anyone else lol
Dr. Strangelove = pretty good, I laughed. havent really had a chance to discuss it

Electra <sigh> (ehh just watched it for action, which wasn't that good either but decent)
Hotel Rwanda  very good
Meet the Fockers <hehehe, alright>
Dodgeball <alright>
Jin-Roh <ehhh, Japanese anime has gotten really dark since the economy crashed>
Mean Girls <girl who is a friend said it was good, it wasn't bad> (ehhhh, so I occasionally watch chick flicks, so shoot me) <turns in man card 😉>
Steamboy <good movie, but it is just a tribute to the old storyline, not a great movie>
White Noise <don't usually watch horrors, I prefer chick flicks over horrors, but another movie recommended. It was cool>

I think I brained my damage from watching all those movies.

FFVII... how good was it?
Memento... only good the first time, but great director
Breakfast at Tiffany's... ummmm, how can you not like a classic with Audrey Hepburn in it? <sigh>

i haven't seen Electra yet, and i used to be a big fan of DD comics. i gotta rent it sometime when the wife is away. i doubt she will watch it with me. any good scenes for J Garner? she might be worth the rental.

The classic red outfit is cool , but nothing really in terms of that.

FF7's action was seriously frikken awesome. If you're into the characters, or whatever it's worth the watch. Just don't ask to many questions about the storyline, becasue the plot holes are everywhere.

and about breakfast at tiffany's, it's like i said, it was on my second monitor while i was playing farcry on the first i think (at least for a few minutes of the movie) It was good, i like the classic feeling of it (i woulda liked to live in that time era) but I didn't really get where the problem was. She just sorta came on to him, he dumped his girl later, went after her, she was hesitent, then gave in. meh

True, but watch it with a girl. They flip for that stuff. 😀 j/k j/k not really.... j/k 😉

No, but seriously, it was a good movie. But there are better ones. I actually like Roman Holiday better. Charade is also good.

I generally like classics but Breakfast at Tiffany's left a sour taste in my mouth. A large part of that might have been the blatantly racist portrayal of the landlord. I also didn't much enjoy Audrey H's character, and this is coming from someone whose cat is named after audrey hepburn. So it's hard to like a movie overall when you don't like one of the main characters and it's a romance. Plus the racist thing.

yea i didn't get the charm of breakfast at tiffanys.

steamboy was just another example of horrible anime movies.

Yeah, I thought Breakfast at Tiffany's would be a light comedy, but it was a surprisingly dark movie.

Don't feel bad. Sooner or later I'm going to have to force myself to do that. I've got a big 'ol pile of movies that I really should watch before I try to sell 'em. I'm just not real good at watching movies while getting other stuff done.

When I saw FFVII: AC listed above Breakfast at Tiffany's I could have sworn it said Breakfast at Tifa's. And then I was like "Tifa runs a bar, not a restaurant." And now I want to stab myself.

if u must see hepburn, my fair lady was much better.

oh if a movie starts sucking but you want to see how it ends and you have windvd one can speed it up to 2x with normalized sound. works great. if its horrible i 4x and read the subtitles heh
good way to get through extras
