Why do so many people watch Anime anyways? What's the draw? I'll admit I've never given it a fair shake, but when I hear of countless 20-somethings spending money(or bandwidth) on foreign language cartoons, I must admit it piques my interst.

That's like asking - Why do so many people watch movies? or Why do so many people watch TV?

No. It's different. These are kid's cartoons, are they not? So why do so many 20-somethings want to watch kid's cartoons:confused: Or is it only the folks who dig Hentai too?

Watch some and see if you like it. Some do and some don't.
The dubbed stuff is better for beginners to see if they like it.

A few good starters:

Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Berserk
Akira
Hellsing
Princess Mononoke
Macross Plus

Are there seriously people who still think that?

Ever seen Evangelion? Bebop? Fullmetal Alchemist? Or any of hundreds of other titles?

In Japan, anime is the same as live action TV/hollywood here in the states . . . it covers EVERY genre: action, adventure, romance, drama, etc . . . and yes hentai as well. If anything anime covers much more controversial topics than US TV would ever cover . . .

Not to mention anime usually have much more substance than the crap you see on "Prime-time" TV here in the states . . .

So to say anime is just kids cartoons is like saying all TV shows/movies in America are just kids shows . . .

Anime is pretty much made for adults, although it can be made for kids aswell.

They also usually go in to really deep topics, like playing God, good and evil, etc.
