I was wrong about the z/28 price ($75k)....

Sounds like a helluva track car. Thinner glass? That sounds pretty hardcore to reduce weight.

You'll need the perfect mullet to go with this.

Domestic cars never sell for sticker price unless it's right when it comes out. Get one for $15k off sticker 6 months after it comes out.

Oh I have no interest in one at all. I had just been laughing at the crazy low prices random people came up with that they thought it would cost.

I knew it would be well overpriced. Typical GM move, they make a great car, price it way out above reach of it's typical target and wonder why things don't sell.

Its for the guy with disposable income that either wants this to park next to their C7, or someone specifically looking to drive a 70k Camaro (so they can surprise C z06 guys off the line). They will sell all of the small amount they make but it will take a longer time than it should if they priced it at 55k which seems more reasonable.

I don't know which is funnier, the low ball speculation or the retarded confirmed price. Seriously, I have no idea why anyone would buy this car at that price. I'd take a Porsche, BMW M4 or maybe even save a little more for a GT-R. But for $75k, no way would I buy a Camaro.

as one commentator said, barrett-jackson 2054

So they're banking on the z28 to be a collectors item from the start simply because its overpriced and only hardcore fans will purchase it? I can see it now...

Commentator: And we're live from Barrett-Jackson 2054, first up for bid is the 2014 Camaro z28. It was more expensive than a corvette back then, slower, uglier... any takers?!?

zl-1 is already more expensive, uglier, and slower. I think the z28 is supposed to be faster (slightly).

This isn't unexpected. Chevy made it known they don't expect to sell many of these.

To me, this is just a rolling showcase for what GM is capable of and is kinda like the LF-A, its a way for them to recoup some of the R&D costs from developing these high performance versions.

If I had this money, I'd be waiting for the Z06 Stingray, it'll probably have most of what makes the Z/28 good, but be even faster and look worth the cost. Of course it'll probably edge up closer to $100K optioned out with all the Z/28 goodies (the ceramic brakes, the trick suspension bits), and of course it'll be hard to get one for a while let alone near sticker, but it'd be a lot more worth it. Unless they hold that out for a ZR1 but they offered most of the ZR1 goodies as options for the Z06 this last time so I'd guess they will again.

I can't wait to see the competition between the new Mustang and the next Camaro.

For that money, I could get plenty of hookers and blow, and still have money left over for a track car.

I don't get it. Why not just buy a new Corvette?

Especially since they look the same from the rear.

It's really hard to pick any other car over C7.......that includes this Camaro.

It's reary hard to pick out a C7 from a Camaro from the rear.

For that money, I could get plenty of hookers and blow, and still have money left over for a track car.

You don't have a mullet do you? If you don't have a mullet you won't understand.

as someone on autoblog pointed out, the Z/28 will run 7:30's around the nurburgring. that's some pretty damn impressive performance.

Which is pretty much the key to this car. It's for bragging rights.

Kind of a modern Dodge Dart Super Stock. It's not 'look how many we can sell;' it's 'look what we built.'

yeah i agree with that. i don't think it will sell. it's just way too much for a camaro.

it's like when ford had that mustang gt500KR or whatever that was 90k. i can't imagine anyone in their right mind would actually buy that.

Remember folks this car has carbon-ceramic brakes. Last I checked a set of these goes for about $8K.

On a Porsche 911 this is a $8,000 upgrade over the standard brakes.

No one is cross shopping a Z28 with a BMW M4 or a $110K GT-R - LOL.

Z28 is a purpose built track day car.

$75000?

You can get a beautiful late model, low mileage Aston Martin for that.
