I was stung or bitten two months ago...

...on my right foot while I was asleep, and my foot is still showing some swelling and slight discoloration. There were several puncture marks on my foot and some bleeding on the bed sheets the following morning. Seems I slept through the whole ordeal as I would've been switching on the light and trying to find whatever it was that did this.

Google searches have drawn a blank. Any ideas on what could possibly cause these symptoms?

Yes, I know I should've probably seen a doctor, but I have a basic mistrust of the money-grabbing US medical industry.

I'm not really familiar...but I believe there is a service for such things. I think they call it the doctor.

A tech forum is a much better place to go for this sort of information. Especially without providing a visual, just a vague description. This is America, dammit, we don't need your fancy "medical degrees" to provide expert opinions.

OP: I'm gonna go out on a limb and say... pinkeye?

You more than proved your point with that one work diagnosis. Brilliant work Watson!

He definitely needs to stop overclocking and put a bigger heatsink on his foot.

Do you live in the country or city? When I lived in Arkansas (country) I got bit all the time around the ankles and would have discoloration/swelling for a few months at a time?

Explain "discoloration". Slightly reddish or off-color skin, or looks like a big bruise and some of the tissue is possibly blackened?

Damn kids. Should be some way to remove the ankle biters.

Edit: I see Llwellyn is from MD. You're in good hands OP.

Depends on what bit you. How big were the punctures? Snake, rate, spider, etc. Was what bit you poisonous? We don't have the proper diagnostic tools to offer you any advice, and frankly, any advice you get here would be just guesswork anyway.

Brown recluse or cone nose. Either way, half price shoes are in your future.

Canada sends moose to bite Americans while they sleep at night, infecting them with deadly diseases.

If you see something that looks like this, please report it to the FBI immediately:

Could well be a vampire. If you turn pale and gay, you should ram a stake through your heart. That way you don't have to go to an expensive doctor.
