Ok so I?m a manager at a wireless sales kiosk that sells AT&T, Nextel, Sprint and T-Mobile phones. Basically our company gets shopped by secret shoppers that T-Mobile hires to see if we can meet their expectations on selling T-Mobile. I got a 30% on my score out of 100%. At the end of the questionnaire there is a part where the person who secret shopped me can write comments. This guy?s grammar is as good as a 6th grader. Is there any reason to think that he was not too competent in actually secret shopping me?

EXCEEDED Expectations Did the sales experience exceed your expectations?

no
Explain Rating Comments supporting the OVERALL IMPRESSION rating you gave:
Nocturnal said"HI". Then stared at me. I waited for him to speak to me but after
a couple of minutes I spoke to him as this was a kiosk and I wasn't able
browse. I told him I was interested in seeing the phones. He placed the Nokia
3390 box on the counter said this is free & didn't speak another word.I
waited 1 minute to speak He didn't so I asked about the T-Mobile phones in
display. He said the prices that are next to the phone are if you get 39.a
month plan & didn't say another word.We were in silence again for around
1minute so Iasked see the phones. He showed meT720i& v205 he said they have
camaras.I tried to engage him so asked him to explain. He explained the
difference. I then picked up a T-mobile Rates & Coveragethinking maybe he
will now talk, He never said another word.

That was copy and pasted from the e-mail I received.

Sounds pretty normal. Unless he exaggerated or made stuff up, I don't see the problem. Talk to customers more.

Yeah the part about me just saying OK THIS IS A 3390 and then staring. I didn't do that. I remember this guy, but very what do you call it.... very little. I can't recall his face but I do remember talking to him nicely and having a conversation. I don't know where they find these secret shoppers but to me they find dumb assess off the street. And these guys dont really give two sh1ts about this. For all they know they could just go in and say "Yeah he didn't help me, he was a prick." Just because I'm asian or something.

Wow, now I see why you're always talking about how no one ever buys phones from you.

My fiance has had two jobs where they have "secret shoppers" and of the 5 or so times it's happened to her, I don't think she's ever gotten lower than a 90%.

Seriously, people aren't going to buy phones if you jsut stare at them and don't do anything.

Geez, that guy's review was crappy. They should be more concerned about the way he writes than your salesmanship....

I seriously didn't just stare at the guy like a dumbass. I remember bringing the phone out onto the counter and telling him or her that this was our free phone that we're giving away. I then proceeded to tell him that we have other T-Mobile phones in the display. I remember him or her asking me how much each phone was. I then proceeded to tell him or her that the prices were labeled on the phones down in the display. Was I supposed to go over each phone and say "Well, this phone there is $100.00, and this phone here is $299.99?" etc etc.

That's about it. They'll give most anyone who signs up $20 to secret shop. I've done it a few times. Easy money.

In a word, yes. It shows you are engaged and at least appear to care, even if you don't.

Most of the time I'm messing with the poster, but I was indeed serious this time.
A salesman has to be a bullshitter to the extreme, you have to be that persons best friend for the time that they're looking at your wares.

You taking anything for it?

I only take it before tests. I don't take medication while at work.

He sounds right on the mark. WHo cares about his grammar? He's hired to evaluate you, not write a novel.

Sounds like you're creeping out customers as opposed to selling phones.

Unless all your salespeople are gay guys or straight women. Nice idea, but your logic is flawed. FOO! ;)
