I was reminiscing about the only time I bought something at a GM dealership

Back in 1990 I was rebuilding my 350 Buick smallblock and working full time at Hamilton Radiator.

The only part I needed to get to finish it off was the tube and dipstick. So I went to a local dealer and inquired about the part. A few mins later he set me up with the dipstick and tube, but the tube was not in stock and had to be ordered. No problem. I then paid for both the tube and dipstick and waited for the call that the part was in.

A few days later I was called about the tube being there to pick up. This is where everything went downhill.

I called the dealership from work (we order parts from various dealerships all the time, including this one) and have them send out the part.

The parts guy asks when I am coming to get the part. I said just send it out to the shop. He tells me no, they don't deliver parts. I am like 😕. I asked him WTH are you talking about. He repeats what he said. I asked why then do you have a delivery truck that says "Parts To Go!"? He asks me, "what part of we don't deliver do you not understand."

Rather than argue with a moron, I decided to go there myself. I told my boss what was going on and he said, "give'em hell kid". So I show up there in my work uniform and ask the parts guy for my part. He gets the part and tells me I owe him $15.00. I told him I had already paid for the part and just give me my part. He refused. I showed him my receipt. He looked at it and tore it up in small pieces and then said you owe $15.00 or I'll call the police. I was like WTF? I had to get back to work so I gave him the $15.00. I then told him he was a jerk and that I would tell every customer what kind of losers worked at that dealership.

And I did. For over 6 months. Strangely enough, after those 6 months there was a complete change of owners and staff at that dealership.

That was the only time I ever got something from a GM dealership. I have never set foot into another one since then.

Cliffs:

-needed part for engine rebuild
-bought and paid for items
-dealership extorts me for more money
-give them the big FU
-never go to a GM dealership again
-profit?

It stills bugs me after all these years.

PS: Never had a hard time at any Mopar dealerships ever. They get 2

Mopar or No Car!!!

😀

A stealership can be dishonest?

I don't believe it....

Also, I've been jerked around by foreign and domestic companies. It just depends on who owns/runs the dealership not the parent company.

That sucks. Fortunately, I haven't been jerked around by any dealerships I've dealt with. Sure, I've had the usual "would you like us to tighten the chassis bolts for an extra $40?" bullsh!t (BTW-that was at a Toyota dealership) but that doesn't compare to this.
