Lovely.

I just got dropped from 4 (out of 6) of my courses because Dutch Students get priority in the English taught classes and have the ability to take one of our spots.

Most classes are now already full, and i need a MINIMUM of 9 credits abroad to get my degree back at home. (right now im lookin at 4). Ya know, for being a big international school, Hogeschool van Utrecht really dosent give a sh!t about its International Students.

So anyway, im going over to the administration tomm morning to BEG for them to get me any classes, but it dosent look too good right now.

EDIT: I was able to beg my way into 2 more classes... Still not very much but hey, its something i guess...

heh

i was eco/gov't/hist major. history classes didn't have any limit on the non-hist majors, and eco was what the computer listed. but i always had probs adding some of the gov't classes due to that, so i'd take up a non-gov major seat or i'd have to talk to the advisor to get it added, which usualyl meant getting up early in the morning.

but thats just BS that they can bump you from a class that was scheduled.

I find it kind of funny that my professor from the one class i went to today told me i should have known by the email she sent out yesterday that i was bumped. I told her that would be kinda hard for me to recieve considering they havent set up our email accounts on their system yet.

Good, now theres more time to explore Hollands TRUE assets. :D
What you need is called 'Super Silver Haze'. Go around to the coffee shops asking for it.
It will make your unlucky situation instantly appear better. hehehe.

I don't think that Hogeschool van Utrecht has a corner on the "sh!t on the students" market. Being a white middle class male, schools have not ever done a damn thing to help me out.

The theme is misplaced resentment coupled with the melodrama of young adulthood.

Wait till you get to the workplace.... ;)

Learn to speak Dutch.

Yes, the European countries are smarter than the US in terms of placing their own people above all new comers and non-citizens. The ONLY thing about France I like is they have mandated a national language - French (natch) - and they don't give a damn if you no speakie de language.

That really doesn't make much sense, since you are only there for one semester and I'm assuming that the Dutch students all speak Dutch.

Yeah I am studying in Sweden this semester, and while we aren't bumped from the classes, everything is on paper, we have to get signatures and such to get into classes, it is the biggest pain. I long for the online enrollment that I had at UCLA. I feel for you, for I have to go try to get into one of the classes I want this morning, beg the professor to sign my paper. Well good luck with your own trials
