i was playing basketball today, got busted in the lip, no skin broken, broken blood vessel. blood swelling. what to do?

well, i was playing ball today, went up on D, some guy came up to me, elbow first, hit me in the lip... no broken skin, no external bleeding, but there's internal bleeding... my lips kind of swollen now, but not like, sprained ankle swollen, like blood swelling... my roomate says to cut it open, but ow, that'd hurt... is there a better way? should i leave it be?

It should stop on its own eventually (right?) unless you're a hemophiliac - in which case cutting it open would be even worse. Bruises are broken blood vessels too. That probably just looks nasty due to location.

But if you're really concerned, go to a walk-in clinic.

Just do it over a sink, and have something ready for when the blood is drained so you can apply gentle pressure. Don't want to lose too much now.

so i iced my lip a bit, st@bbed it with a safety pin (after sterilizing it) didn't work, pin too dull, got another one, sterilized it, st@bbed my lip...done deal... but the blood is coming out so slowly... i stabbed it twice, and now i've gotta suck the blood out slowly...
