Great story, but that kid's mom is a great example of crappy parenting. What's the message there? Really hurting people is funny? Better start 'em young if you want them to grow up to be muggers, gang-bangers or rapists. Ok, maybe that's a little extreme, but still, not exactly a good message to be teaching your kids.

I would have filed charges against the mother, to be honest. To not be mortified by said behavior, let alone not offer to help you up or an apology or an offer of restitution, or to tell the boy to apologize, is simply reprehensible and irresponsible.

If I had done something like that as a child I would have been skinned alive, and rightfully so.
