Couple weeks ago I reset my Linksys wireless router after taking it to a friend's place. For some reason another friend of mine who lives directly below me was having trouble connecting to my router so I disabled MAC filtering but left WEP (128-bit) on, thinking it would be OK. For the past week or so I noticed the connection being a little slower than usual, and the cable modem data light blinking more frequently. I didn't think about it until I checked my router today and there are 3-4 different unknown users around my apartment complex leeching off my connection. Our apartment complex offers a paid WiFi service and the residents are mainly college/law students so apparently I've been providing a free alternative to paid internet service for the past 2 weeks.

I tested my WEP and I'm able to access the internet/local network without even typing anything in the 'Network key' fields. What's up with that? Anyway I enabled MAC filtering (and specifically blocked the leechers' MAC addresses) so hopefully that will work if my WEP doesn't. Wireless is a PITA.
