I was just thinking about why I love photography...

I think it's the fact that I can bring my camera with me to the most random places and still have a great time. New places are like fresh digital meat for my DSLR. I look at things in ways I would have never looked at them before. I examine things at different angles and almost picture what things would look like after applying different Photoshop filters and techniques.

How about you?

Because it makes me look at the world instead of just wandering around without paying attention.

I like to find the beauty of life in different forms when i take photos.

One of my favorite things from the past was to take pictures of girls who totally didn't think they were photogenic, then getting a photo they liked.

My chance to show the world something the way I see it or at least the way I think it should be seen.

It's all about perspective.

I like to be able to capture that moment, and get those odd angles and perspective. Or to be able to catch that candid moment that makes you smile when you look back at it.

I echo the sentiment of how photography has changed my perspective. I now often see beauty or just an interesting take on the most mundane scenes and objects.

I also like the retrospective given by captured images of old.

Think of the photos that defined an event or those emblazoned upon our collective conscious for whatever reason.

[*]Iowa Jima flag raising - WWII
[*]Full earth globe - Space program/race
[*]Jack Ruby/Oswald - Kennedy Assassination
[*]Naked youngster running from napalm or point blank execution - Vietnam war

There were volumes written on all these subjects but often there is a single photograph or film/video frame that comes to the minds eye whenever the subject is broached.

On a more personal scale, as boring as the prospect of viewing the generic "family album" during a holiday gathering is, it never fails to spark nostalgia and engage conversation. So much so, even the quiet ones will join.
