How the hell is this not your fault? I don't understand. You misjudged traffic, and moved out to cross trafic when you shouldn't have.

You said there was a hill 100 yards away right? There is no way there was a blind hill 100 yards from a stop light. IIRC the minimum is well over 500. But lets assume you are a good judge of distance (which obviously you are not, but hey.) Lets do some math. The maximum grade is 6% for intersections. Assuming this was a real small truck, lets say 6' tall. At maximum grade, the oncoming car would have been visible for 400 feet by your own admission.

At 40 MPH , it would have taken the oncoming car just over 8 seconds to go from that hill to the intersection. 8 seconds is forever. You could get out of your truck, and run across the intersection in 8 seconds

At 80 MPH (double a normal speed limit), it would have taken just over 4 seconds for the truck to get to you. 4 seconds would be a break in traffic of nearly 200 feet at 40 mph. 200 feet! Even at 80, you could have made the turn with room to spare.

At 160 MPH, You would have had about 1.6 seconds to get out of the intersection. Normal reaction is about 1/2 a second, so that would have given you 1.1 seconds to accelerate into the intersection. In a normal car, this would be about 10 feet, so you would have gotten nailed in the passenger door, not the front corner.

Conclusions:
The other driver was doing well over 160 MPH, and is employed by the Earnhardt family. (I doubt it, you would be dead and I wouldn't have had to bust out my slide rule.)
Or
You can not judge distance, and after your post here, should never be allowed within 100 feet of another car. The only problem is we would have to give you a tape measure so you know what 100 feet is.

WINNAR!!! FATALITY. I was about to present him with similar calculations.

EVADMAN WINS.

FLAWLESS VICTORY.

...

FATALITY.

In possible (and I do mean possible) defense of Jehovah, there is an intersection near my parent's house where what he described is kind of possible. Regardless of Evadman's "minimum 500 yards" statement, there's a stoplight at the top of a steep hill. Cars waiting to turn left (north) from the middle turn lane have very little time to react to a car going westbound up the hill. Similarly, cars trying to turn right (west) on a red light, shouldn't because there's a good chance you'll get hit.

Therefore, when I'm at that intersection, I either gun it for a left turn or wait for the green turn light. So if the intersection Jehovah's describing is like this one, he exercised poor judgment in making a blind left turn too slowly, and if the woman who hit him was speeding, that exacerbated the problem.

That was some nice ownage Evadman laid down though. Reminds me of the good ol' flame form days.

i don't know if it matters if she was speeding. if you can't judge speed and distance, it's still your fault.

Well look on the bright side, NO ONE GOT SERIOUSLY INJURED! If she would have broken her ribs or any other similar injury, you would be in DEEPER sh!t. Besides, if she IS hot, then go for it! Apologize and take her out! Look at it this way... she hit you, you should get a chance to hit too right? :D

Wow, this is some great pwnage. I bet the OP stops at every intersection and counts to 2, and goes, even if there is a car there. He failed to tell us that this was his 3rd time trying it since he got his license last month...

You still have a chance. I once passed a stop sign and got into an accident and the woman that hit me was hauling a$$. I got sued and everything. One year later, I found out I went down three steps on my insurance and i never heard anything of the lawsuit ....appearently it was not my fault even though i failed to stop....
