Then why didn't you get it legitimately?

Cus they wouldn't give it to him. Also, if you get hit, and the insurance company repairs the car, there is still a loss of resale value due to it being in accident and frame damage. And it doesn't drive the same anymore. So who is going to reimburse you for that? So you add that in, and call it even :)

1.) you say there were no witnesses, yet you mention "there were a few other cars in the middle lane on the opposite side" which means that there were OBVIOUSLY witnesses there to see what happened, so why are you claiming no witnesses.

2.) why the hell did you wait the whole 2 seconds with a clear left side of the road for 2 seconds before deciding to turn? maybe if you turned when you FIRST saw there were no cars coming, then 2 seconds later you would have been through the intersection.

go back to driving school ...

1. They drove away, and there's no way for me to contact them

2. In case something like this happened (ironically enough)

just because people saw it doesn't mean they're going to be willing to be witnesses for you... lol... in this case it probably wouldn't help anyway

Why?! I made sure the coast was clear, I had the green light, and the opposite lane was empty when I began the turn!

obviously it wasnt

that bolded comment there makes no sense. so you are saying you waited to look for a car to come, and then went anyways? if you hadn't had waited that would not have happened.

LOL, and he came to ATOT to look for ideas to mold his master story as to why it wasn't his fault.

I already told my parents and everyone else that needed to be told.
It was a joke, loosen up your anus or your poop may never see the light of day again.

Listen, I'm a little upset since this happened about an hour ago; it's my fault even though she was the one that made the dumb move, and I have to cover it. I have no way of transport for god knows how long, I live ten minutes away from campus, and I am broke as it is.

I'm here to vent because I'm not exactly in the mood to talk to someone face to face right now. My roommate was empathetic enough to ask if that girl was cute when I told him this. Is that okay?
Sure it's ok to vent, but don't try and place the blame elsewhere. You made the move, you're the dumb one.

Oh man...

YOU MADE THE DUMB MOVE.

Anyway, if you live 10 minutes from school why can't you take a bus or ride a bike?

You said there was a hill 100 yards away right? There is no way there was a blind hill 100 yards from a stop light. IIRC the minimum is well over 500. But lets assume you are a good judge of distance (which obviously you are not, but hey.) Lets do some math. The maximum grade is 6% for intersections. Assuming this was a real small truck, lets say 6' tall. At maximum grade, the oncoming car would have been visible for 400 feet by your own admission.

At 40 MPH , it would have taken the oncoming car just over 8 seconds to go from that hill to the intersection. 8 seconds is forever. You could get out of your truck, and run across the intersection in 8 seconds

At 80 MPH (double a normal speed limit), it would have taken just over 4 seconds for the truck to get to you. 4 seconds would be a break in traffic of nearly 200 feet at 40 mph. 200 feet! Even at 80, you could have made the turn with room to spare.

At 160 MPH, You would have had about 1.6 seconds to get out of the intersection. Normal reaction is about 1/2 a second, so that would have given you 1.1 seconds to accelerate into the intersection. In a normal car, this would be about 10 feet, so you would have gotten nailed in the passenger door, not the front corner.

Conclusions:
The other driver was doing well over 160 MPH, and is employed by the Earnhardt family. (I doubt it, you would be dead and I wouldn't have had to bust out my slide rule.)
            Or
You can not judge distance, and after your post here, should never be allowed within 100 feet of another car. The only problem is we would have to give you a tape measure so you know what 100 feet is.
BWAHAHAHA!

I want pics of the intersection, dagnabbit.

You still aren't getting that even if she was speeding, you didn't time the turn well and suck at driving. :)

I was starting to make the turn and it was a two lane road, with a middle lane for left turns. How would I have fvcking have dodged it?

Don't stick your nose out unless you know for sure you can complete the turn.

I'm amazed this guy has his license since obviously he doesn't grasp the concept of yielding to oncoming traffic.

Listen you fvcktards, I said that there was a hill 100 yards in front of me, and cars opposite me in the middle lane - the opposite lane was empty for two full seconds before I made the turn, and as I was turning, the chick came over the hill, was obviously speeding, and she hit me before I could react.

How the fvck was it my fault? She ran into me while speeding! If she had obeyed the speeding law even, she very well could have stopped herself!

lol...you shoulda used those 2 full seconds to make the turn.

dumbass. but i'm sure you already know you're one.

dude, you misjudged the turn. you should of made sure no predestrians were crossing, make sure she's far away enough and gunned it on the turn. or not turn at all.

live and learn...

If you got clipped in the back, you would have a case. But this accident could have been prevented if you paid attention.

A woman was coming over a hill at a FULL FOOTBALL FIELD's LENGTH away, and you claim you couldn't finish the turn in time? Do you have square tires?

Yawp...I'm basically gonna agree with the consensus. Turns into moving traffic are proceed-when-safe. If she hit you, it obviously wasn't very safe :(

Anyone else get the imperssion that the OP thought he had the right of way because he let all the cars that where waiting for the green to go so now it would be his turn.

even if she was speeding and wasn't paying attention and hit your car, it's your fault to be in the middle of an intersection. that's the law and get used to it

i) You're Jehovah... she was doing us a favour... :p

ii) Getting hit while making a left turn does mean you were at fault. You have to provide right of way to any vehicle coming straight through, or making a right hand turn. It sucks if she was speeding and you got nailed.
