I was going to order a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE950s...

EDIT: Ordered Falken Ziex 512s for $35/ea from Edge Racing - thanks Kwan1!

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testResultsModel.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=Traction+T%2FA+H

I was about to pay $330.26/shipped for RE950s, then I saw the BFGoodrich Traction T/As for $242.26 (Tirerack)..

The T/As have slightly higher handling ratings (according to Tirerack's comparison), AA traction rating, and 440 treadwear..60,000 mile warranty. The RE950s are traction/temperature A/A, treadware 400, with a 45k mileage rating.

I'm looking for performance over life..I'm hard on tires, so I don't expect to get even 30,000 out of these..but the main factor is price -- it'll be almost $90 cheaper to go with BF Goodrich (close to $100 if I were to go with road hazard coverage), and the reviews look about the same, except the RE950s have worse wet/snow traction. I drive in rain, but not snow..so that doesn't matter much.

So...has anyone used the Traction T/As? =)

All I can say is that the Traction T/A is obviously not as "high-performance" of a tire as the RE950. Then again, the RE950 wasn't meant to be a high performance tire either. Looks like the Traction T/A is the way to go.

Heh, 60k. I could only dream of that kind of tread life😉😛

Get some falken ziex512's. I just got them a month ago and they are awesome. Recommended by consumer report to be the best.

I had michelin pilots before them and the falkens blow them away. I was able to buy them at $94 each for 225/17/45, so i am sure you can find them for cheaper. this is where i got mine edge racing.

175/65/14, 185/60/14 or 185/65/14. Looking for 185 series..
Edit: They're in Ft. Lauderdale..lol, I could almost drive down and pick them up, if gas wasn't so expensive.. 😛

They only want $170..I could buy some other crap also, and still save money. 😀

i just got the bridgestones for my 02 TL a few weeks ago. All i gotta say is the traction on those are a hell lot better then the stock michellins. I tested them on wet pavement and high speed cornerings. Thumbs up for me!

14" tires, why not just get them local ?

14" can be had anywhere for such a cheap price.
Check sears. 😛

They are pretty reputable and good on the service. IF you don't trust me you can search for them on ww.vwvortex.com

😀

good luck. The ziex looks awesome btw.

I went through a set of $60/ea Sears tires. They sucked...and they want over $500 for four RE950s mounted/balanced/etc.

Did you check Costco or BJ's ?
If you purchase tires from them, mounting and balancing is free.
And at 14",s do you need such expensive t ires ?

500 bucks for 4 14" tires ?
Jesus~!

If I purchase 4 Falkens for my car, it should be about 500 mounted and balanced.

No Costco or BJs here.

I'm not looking for budget tires..I had two Aurora all-seasons put on (needed something to handle snow better than my old worn tires) in October-ish, and they're pretty much gone now..and they never were incredibly sticky.

I don't have a Porsche or anything, but I want better than a 2.375 60'. =)
