.... I took that little sh*thead back to his mom and everything came to a halt.

After I save the boy, there's a door that opens to a room filled with toxic gas(?) Just before this room of death, there are two hustler's selling items; none of which appear to be gas mask filters (retarded, considering the door to their hole in the ground leads to a ROOM FULL OF TOXIC GASES).

Issue: I have zero of those filters left due to some jackass putting the gas mask replacement button (G) right next to the flash light button (F). Sometimes I accidently hit g trying to get to my flash light earlier in the game and it has now cost me.

I have since altered the key arrangement but I have no more gas mask filters and I can't make it through the next room.

The crazy thing is that these filters were littered everywhere, then suddenly, disappeared as if they aren't even part of the game now. Do I have to start the game over??? Need some recommendations, I can't make it through this room without choking to death.

ah fek, you could look for a trainer that might possibly give filters? IDK much about trainers to be honest, but I vaguely remember someone using a trainer in a similar situation.

I've been reading a lot about this and deciding if I was going to buy it, but to be honest every time I read a thread someone else complains about pretty much this exact same thing. =/

I've played enough games with grinding gimmicks to not find this whole filter thing very appealing.

You'll have to load a checkpoint and redo a section of the level. Even though I paid full price I put it away after having to redo a 30 minute section due to the exact same issue. I also got fed up with the "you should look all over the place to find items" game mechanics which end up royally breaking the "you're on rails with NPCs that help" part of it.

I was enjoying it until I installed it. Most linear game ever, sold to me as being sandbox.

What the fucking fuck?

I don't mean to flog someone else's product, but sometimes we gamers find ourselves in a bind due to hard spots in a particular game. I buy and play games for fun..when a game ceases to be fun..and I can't find a solution after trying real hard..then ( cheathappens ) is my friend. Once I get by the hard part..I go back to normal play mode, then I can enjoy my purchased game once again.

I'd like my mistake to be a little more breath taking than complete inability to complete the game ... I mean, why do they give you a form of currency if you can't buy stuff you need The currency is useless, as any weapon you can buy is inevitably found laying around on a floor somewhere; which you can't even pick up to sell due to the fact that you have a back pack on and can't even use it to hold anything.

Last time I checked human beings are pretty resourceful, you'd think that in a world full of toxic gasses there would be a way to get hold of some damn filters.

.... and since when dose a gas mask stop a bullet from hitting your face? Gripe gripe gripe I know. I'll just cheat, they failed (and so did I apparently).

I had problems with the filters on this game as well. They never really make it clear how the filters worked so I found myself replacing my filters everytime he started to breath hard. I didn't realize until the end of the game that you just wait and he will change it automatically. Seriously what's the point of having a manual button if he does it automatically when the time is right anyway?

Well thanks to that on one very long outdoor part I completely ran out of filters and the only way I was able to make it through was literally sprinting across the level until I made it indoors again. That sucked.

I think the manual button is there in case you are in a fight and he starts breathing heavy and the glass starts to fog up. It's not time for him to do it automatically, but it's annoying to be in that state during a fight.

I never had a problem with running out of filters, although I was never sure how many I had at any time. I don't remember buying any either.

Well the cheats are a rip off so I just ran as fast as I could towards a group of six men with a pipe bomb in hand and threw it at them. Took a few tries but I eventually got them all with one blast and took their masks.

Turns out there are gas masks on men almost always, just not around creatures so much. Still, when you're low on masks you can't really enjoy the environment; you're always in fear of choking to death.

Situation solved, try harder seems to be the answer :p. For now I just let the game take care of switching the filters and deal with crappy gameplay when the mask fogs up.

Getting filters isn't a big issue. In fact, whether or not you can pick up a filter seems to be generated randomly by the game, and your current minutes left figures big into the calculation.

Unless you're simply standing still in the open for 10 straight minutes admiring the scenery, you should always be able to find some filters when you're low. Load the level from the beginning if you're screwed and you'll see that some filters you couldn't pick up before can now be taken.

Unless you have butter fingers like the OP...but then again, that is not the game's fault.

I have a suspicion that hitting G doesn't actually affect the number of minutes you have remaining, and that it's there solely to give you control over the mask fogging up. Gotta test... :)
