I posted a thread in FS/FT with my email in the OP, which according to this thread, is perfectly valid:

http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2053128

My message looked exactly like this. If the mod had not deleted the thread, i would linked to prove my point:

I want a low power graphics card for my linux machine. The 8800gt I have is good, but somewhat hot and noisy for what I am using it for. I want either an Nvidia GT 210, GT220, or GT240, or any similar model or make card, preferably with passive cooling. I am willing to make a partial trade for my 8800gt single slot cooler graphics card. Its good for up to 700mhz on the core clock I believe and gets me between 6k-7k ppd or so folding. Post or PM with offers.

my email:
mothergoose729@gmail.com

According to this thread that is perfectly acceptable. It was in the message the mod sent me informing me of being banned.

Further more, the other two infractions I have on my account were handed out on the same day. The form moved over to the VB system (note my membership outdates the new software) and I posted two separate threads before becoming aware of this, and was handed out two separate infractions. I reposted those threads in the exact same format I quoted above, which then was acceptable. I don't deserve any these infractions on my record. And I would kindly like them removed.

EDIT:
I would like to point out, that upon further inspection a v card can be downloaded from my profile, with my email in plain text. I have made no changes to my profile since my ban was removed.

Infractions last for "x" amount of days and then fall off.

They're like demerits.

If you got these infractions in march.. they're long gone.

If you go into your user cp setting, you'll see a section with the following:

Latest Infractions Received.............................0 point(s) total

the 0 point(s) total means you have no infractions.

Then the mods have recently changed their policy to temp ban for infractions rather then a warning. I have a strong feeling that my previous infractions were a big contributor to a what seemed to me to be a very harsh reaction. Something I did not earn, mind you.

so you got a vacation...so what? Its good to take a couple days away from the forums every once in a while.

Put an apology in the OP since you were obviously wrong, be more careful next time and move on with your life. FS/FT has very specific rules to keep this forum troll free. I cross ship here all the time with no worries because of this.

Not true, the mod can elect to set a permanent infraction.

I have one already because disagreeing = threadcrapping apparently...

Infractions do not, at present time, have any way of automatically causing a ban. That is an action which the moderator must make separately.

As far as removing all trace of an infraction from your account - what if we did that, then next week you broke the same rule. And the week after that. And the week after that. They're a simple way for the moderators to keep track. Generally, most minor things don't result in a vacation. However, repeated violations or ignoring a PM from a moderator to address a problem with a particular thread or post may result in a short vacation to "get your attention."

You were originally contacted on 3/21 by one of the moderators concerning email visibility & excessive bumping of your thread. It wasn't until 5 days later before you received a 3 day vacation after ignoring requests to fix your email. From this thread, it appears it was effective in getting your attention.

I was given a warning 3/21... in 2009. The moderator informed me he had locked the thread in the same message, so I wasn't really given any grace period to comply. At that time there was technical difficulties with updating user profiles, I was one of the members having trouble. I fell in line with the rules then by posting my email in the OP. I know now this rule has changed and I won't be making the same mistake again.

This time, I was banned first, and then able to read the PM explaining why only three days later. I understand now that I had been disobeying the rules, as particular, anal, and frivolous as they are. It is my humble opinion, as moderator for another site myself, that anandtech administrators are way to proactive. I don't expect my pissing and moaning to cause any change though.

I appreciate the other members helping me better understand the rules.

Yes, when we are trying to protect trader's money and products. That is what we are here for. Sorry that you got caught up in it and are unhappy, but the rules exist for a reason. That is also why that thread is stuck to the top of the forum, and giant letters and obnoxious colors are used to make sure everyone reads it. We didn't put it there to annoy you, we put it there to protect everyone who trades here.

The questions have been answered, and this thread has run it's course so it will be locked.
