I was slithering around Tom's Hardware - and I asked why people flamed so much there. The next thing I know some guy named "Bitemeoff" cursed me out and totally napalmed me. Is this common over there?

Bitemeoff will find a bantha's head in his bed tommorow! Grrr!

Did you honestly think you'd get an intelligent responce when you ask them "why people flamed so much there"?

I was just pissed cuz some poor guy wanted help with his SETI@home problems and these people wouln't help him. They just hacked each other to pieces over which chip would process units faster and clogged up the thread. So I asked them why they fought so much.

Did i provoke that attack? Yes. I have to admit that I was curious to see how little it would take to set things off. It didn't take much let me tell you. At the end of the post i wrote "Hail Pentium 4!" and would you beleive it - and INTEL fan flames me.

I guess I should have known better...

i don't go to tomshardware's forum. i have nothing against the guy, but i don't really visit that many forums. see, i signed up for russ's thing, but have not been there for MONTHs. and i only have been a "member" for months.

i don't even visit hardocp's forum that often. though i still visit ars on occasion.

Haha...nobody likes Bitemeoff. He and some other dudes started argueing about what processor was better, the Athlon or the PIII Katmai. He loved the PIIi...and was blind to facts. Well...that's all I remember.

People that are set off that easily obviously have a serious problem. What exactly their problem could be is always up for debate, and of course it varies from person to person. Maybe they're just plain immature. Maybe they're weak in their beliefs and need to resort to personal attacks. Maybe they're trying to sustain a reputation with the other board members. Bah. :|

BiteMeOff & I had a bit of a "discussion" a long time ago. It seems that he has some bitterness towards college people, especially CS or engineers. I get the feeling that he flunked out & now makes himself feel superior to others by constantly attacking everyone. He now feels that he is a more well-rounded person than most and thinks that his flames are the way to show it. He thinks he's a big fish in a small pond but he's actually pathetic & needs to be pitied. Then again, that was a few years ago & I haven't gone to Tom's board in a long time. It was semi-decent until Tom made the infamous US party comment & then the board turned into a massive flame pit.
