I was anticipating this yet it still surprises me - Dashcam

They know.
They just dont care.
People break traffic laws cuz they think they will get away with it, NOT because they dont know the traffic laws.

Even at the risk of being T-boned? Video never actually captures the amount of acceleration or braking correctly. I've recorded emergency braking instances and it looks very timid in comparison to sitting in the car. Point is, this looks more tame than it actually was.

In the video, I was anticipating that some car may try to gun across the lane before I got across it and that turned out to be true. First car I could get, in that it's shitty but still small enough risk that he'd just get across even if I were completely oblivious. Still dangerous though.

The second car was the wildcard for me this time. I thought she would stop and yield to traffic since she obviously could not have made that in time.

Third car was just observing and going 'lol'.

I've been practicing "defensive driving" naturally my whole life, long before I ever heard that term, maybe even before the term was coined.

The bottom line is that the further down the road you can see, the better, AND you can never assume another driver is going to do the right thing.

Given the inattention and entitlement, I seriously surprised there aren't more accidents than actually occur.

The best defense is a good offense.

That's an odd looking street, what's with those people parked so close to the oncoming lane? They're practically blocking it. And yeah you had the right of way there, and all those cars tried to go, idiots. Even that SUV at the end.

I would have honked more. That'll fix it.

Really people just have zero civility anymore. It shows on the road, but thats not the only place.

It's okay to run a red light if no one is coming.

And it's OK to smash into someone if you have the right of way.

Is that video sped up? Seems like the driver enters that intersection awfully fast considering that there is a car about to turn in front of him. I guess he didn't see it at first, or maybe he figure if he timed it just right, then a little honk on the horn is all the inconvenience it would entail. Didn't figure that a second car might actually enter the intersection behind the one that he was going to miss by inches.
