I wanted to hug a plumber today

I called up this company called Tri Brothers Chemicals because they sell this stuff called Mag-Erad which you pour in a hot water tank and cook out all the gunk at the bottom of the tank.

The guy could have just taken my $60 plus shipping(for 3 gal.) of this stuff, but his first question was what's it doing. After explaining that I was running out of hot water pretty fast on my four year old 50 gal. tank. He says before I sell you this stuff will you check your dip tube. And, sure enough after taking out the dip tube I look and there's a hole about the size of a dime in the top of the dip tube.

Cold water that should have been forced to the bottom of the tank via the dip tube was mixing with the hot water exiting the tank at the top. Problem solved for $8.

God, I love good old fashion benevolent customer service.

And they will recommend him to a friend of theirs.

That's customer service and a long term investment. I'm pretty sure if you ever have a problem again with plumbing, they'll be your first call and even if they're overpriced, you'll still use them because you know they will do the right thing. I mean this in a positive way that you might pay extra.

Amazing how many people are out for a quick buck rather than the long term benefits that come from just being good at your job and leaving people with good impression of your integrity.
