Hey folks, My mother has celiac disease, and thus she cannot eat anything with wheat(or related grains) in it. Rice can be used to make bread, but it crumbles easily and the flour sometimes remains grainy even after being cooked(my biggest peeve). I'd like to be able to have a decent burger with my fam on the 4th, but I want a good recipe to make the bread with. Any ideas? (plz, no copy and paste from cooks.com or anything, I have tried recipes from the net, but nothing seems to work too well. This need a personal touch)

Potatoes have gluten? They have less than grains though, right?

Anyway, I really can't help you. Good luck to your mom, rice is such a PITA to cook with. Maybe just saute some onions/green peppers with broth after your done cooking the burgers(in the same pan), and loading that ontop of the burger. Just as an alternative if the texture of the rice bread is that horrible. Rice bread doesn't sound like it will work, gluten free, with the consistency your hoping for.

Question: Does corn have gluten? Alot or a little? Never bothered to really check.

You can buy gluten free flour at a lot of places. Just pick some up and make bread like you normally would. Some types of yeast don't contain gluten, if I'm not mistaken.

Potatoes give her arthritis issues. They do not have gluten.

Corn does not have gluten, but cornbread won't make for a good bun :p

Rice bread works, it just is less than optimal(also uber expensive)

I have done this, but it flakes apart easily(it's east to "break" a slice in half) and it has a gritty texture.
