To whoever started this thread:

This is what you need to do. ;) 1) Purchase FusionHDTV 5 card 2) You will get all local channels in HD for free with your cable (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, PBS, WB, etc). 3) You can watch all your other SD channels with your cable box hooked directly through the Tuner card with the included composite / S-video adapter. 4) You will sit back and enjoy. :D

Hope this helps! :)

Why doesn't the OP just input his cable box directly into whatever TV tuner card he buys and use the LCD monitor as a display and the cable box remote control to change channels and whatever else like he would if it was hooked to a regular TV set. This way he still gets all the advantages of watching analog/digital channels and recording on his DVR cable box and doesn't have to buy a new TV set.

@GeeFizzleDizzle

Because I have a digital cable, and many people here said that no tv tuner card is capable of recieving them.

@justlnluck How can i possibly get HDTV if I do not have an HD antenna, and I am NOT subscribed for HD signal from my cable company?
Also this thing wont allow me to watch digital channels above 125.

@dph1077 using a splitter is not an option for me because someone else is ALWAYS watching the other TV in the appartament. I'll never be able to record or watch my TV in peace.
And even if I can get over the cost of installing one more cable box, usina all this will be tricky. If I understand you correctly, I'll need to set my tuner to channel 4 every time I watch TV, and then I'll have to use the remote from my cable box to flip it's channels. It's ok to do it once or twice, but to do this everytime is another story...

By the way. How did you go back to analog cable? As far as I'm concerned, in NYC, using an analog cable is simply not an option any more.

Because the FCC mandates that all cable companies provide the digital local channels for free. You don't need any box. All you need is a Fusion card to receive those digital channels and watch HD programming. Use your current box to watch the rest of your channels since they will just be SD anyway.

If you run your cable box into a TV tuner card then it would be the same as plugging it into a TV set. The TV tuner card would be doing nothing except displaying what the cable box is decoding. You would just be using your LCD monitor in place of a TV set and would control everything through the cable box.

It will allow you to watch analog and/or digital cable on your computer with no problem.
