Westinghouse 32" LCD HDTV

I am about to go buy the HD antenna to pick up the local FOX/NBC/ABC/CBS channels... would this work, or is there more simple way?

Uhh, just get the antenna and make sure you actually switch the video input to the OTA tuner :)

i hear ya... all i did was stand in my backyard holding the antenna while i scanned for channels before i put it up. luckily i didn't have to climb up to the roof to get them all.

Edit: it looks kind of like this

Depends on your location. I use a simple $25 one from walmart. It has 2 antenna spokes and some sort of oval thing that you're supposed to point in the direction of the broadcast tower. But I live in a very flat area.

If you live in a mountainous area you can buy the directional ones and just point them directly at the transmission tower.

well it depends on how far away you are from the broadcast tower... try it, you probably won't even need an outdoor one.

The dual intenna w/ the oval thingy is the same exact one I use and get excellent reception from. I paid $5 for it at a computer show :)

I dunno how well the 40 dollar Philips antenna will work...but I've got the $19 one from Wally-world and it works very well. It's a bunny-ears type, with an amplifier. Get all the network channels with it: CBS, NBC, ABC, WGN, PBS, FOX. You have to change the direction slightly sometimes depending on the station but otherwise it's

Of course, YMMV depending on your location. I live in the Chicago suburbs so we've probably got pretty good signal coverage.

You don't really need HD antenna. It's just marketing. If you have old VHF/UHF antenna from your old analog CRT TV, use that. Most people probably have one laying around the house somewhere. If not, this should work for most people in the city.

Do it the right way and mount this in your attic.

$30 + $8 for a coax adapter.

Then go on antennaweb.org and figure out which way to point it.

Dont bother spending a few hundred on an HD antenna. This does the same thing for much less.

Does it actually pick up in the attic?

You'd be amazed. I was skeptical too but I went to my brother in laws house and he has one in his attic and it looks awesome with great signal strength. Same goes for my other brother.
