How does this work? Do they call him at home when they are close to the beginning and he comes in and takes their place?

I would be if I knew for sure I got the discounted price as a recent iPhone v1 purchaser. It is totally unclear, though. Every source of information seems to have a different answer.

I'm going to, however I'll probably show up around 7 am. From what I've been told, my apple store will be receiving 750-1000 of them, so I'm not too worried about it selling out. Granted, I won't be the first in line, but who cares?

If you login to your att account, and click on upgrade your equipment, if it says you are eligible for discount pricing on equipment then you can get the discounted price. I'm pretty sure everyone with iPhone V1 is eligible. I know I am.

My old iphone is just fine, and I'm not going to shell out $200 for essentially a faster modem (and the right to pay $10 more per month) but I do like my iphone. Way better interface than the Blackberry Pearl that people around here get as work phones (and that's the best smartphone UI I've seen other than the iPhone).

Their computers or their OS? I thought they used the same hardware as everyone else now. They used to use better hardware than PC manufacturers (i.e. SCSI instead of IDE), but now it's the same stuff.

I was thinking of getting a Pearl, cause my carrier uses CDMA.

I'm lookin for either one of those or a Sony Ericcson Xperia X1, HTC's other badass phone coming out soon.

I can't justify an iPhone over my BlackJack II. I like my real QWERTY keyboard and proper 3G.

From what I saw the modem isn't even that much faster. IIRC they were managing to pull 400 kbps on the 3G iPhone; most 3G WinMo phones can pull 1 Mb+, and can be tethered.

I just saw the speed ratings too and I was surprised. My q9c can easily churn > 1 Mbps when I'm in Boston.
