If you don't like $2.50 each then keeping them is the right thing to do. I think that is a fair offer.

Maybe find a vid store that would take them as trade instead?

Yeah, I wanted to sell these in one bunch.
If it's about $400, I'd just keep them.

you might as well keep them then

I regularly weed out 50-100 DVDs at a shot at Wherehouse records. I average $4-7 per title. If you go to their website, you can determine how much you would get. I have a hard limit of 800 DVDs in my collection and have to sell when I get over my limit.

Thanks, that seems like a good idea. Unfortunately there are no locations in NJ.

Do not sell them to a pawn shop. Well unless you're a crackhead and reallly need the $. They'll probably only give you 1 or 2 dollars for each and sell them for $5-7.

Try secondspin.com I don't know how their prices are though. Simple to use.

Where in NJ do you live? You might want to try Princeton Record Exchange (http://www.prex.com/sell-dvds-list.html).

Or EBGames/Gamestop, but I doubt you'll get much for them there.

especially since lately, I've been purchasing brand new DVDs in Walmarts bargain bins for $5.50 a pop.. good movies too..

DVD today is what VHS was yesterday.. on its way out the door..
From now and in the next couple of years will be the HD/Bluray transition.. DVD will still be around, but it won't be the "in" thing

I just sold my collection (minus the music DVDs) on eBay...around 130 total, with some box sets. I ended up getting $640 for the lot, so I'm happy.

No regrets, either. I watched them all, and they were just sitting around collecting dust. With Netflix and DVD burners, who needs to keep DVDs anymore.

I think DVD will be a little more tenacious than VHS was... there are some doubts that EITHER HD-DVD or BluRay will be a success. And if a victor emerges, I think the transition will take longer because HDTVs are still in the minority by a huge margin.

Amen to that. I've reached the conclusion that the only DVDs that I own that I rewatch enough to justify owning are TV shows. So that's all I buy anymore for the most part. I have about 150 movies that I really ought to get rid of, but I have the same problem as the OP... they're mostly worthless. Maybe I'll just give them to my brother.

Did you sell them as one collection or did you break it up. If the latter, how long did it take for you to sell them all?

Thanks

Unless he's already backed them up of course.

Then he might be able to pay for the 2TB of disc space needed to store the images ;).

I loaded them all in my car, drove 45 minutes and had to wait there an hour for those a-holes to lowball me. They offered me $280 for all of them. I asked them to pack 'em back up. Someone on eBay is now bidding $799 + shipping for them. Screw those guys. :)

More than any of us thought you would get. Question now is how much did you spent on them when you first purchased each?

hence the reason why i'll never buy movies. Go rent it, watch it once, never see it again, out $3.00

I didn't buy them as an investment.
I enjoyed them for years, as did my friends and family.
I don't need them anymore, so I was trying to get as much as I can for them.
