Okay, so I'm planning my new computer build HERE

Right now I'm running 2 monitors, a 20" Samsung 204B and a 17" Samsung 172B. Soon I want to buy the 1900x1200 24" Samsung 245B.

If you read the thread I linked two, I already wrote out what I need. In my new computer I want to get a new graphics card, but also reuse one that I already have in this computer, a 7800GTX 256MB KO. I have 2 of them, but I need the second computer for something else.

My question is if the graphics card i selected, XFX 9800GTX 512MB ( + the one I already have, a EVGA 7800GTX KO), will fit together well on the motherboard and allow me to have 3 independent monitors? Is it gonna slow down a lot if I do Adobe AfterFX? I won't be doing anything full screen, like games, only video editing.

Any input? Thanks a lot

For video editing, the speed of your graphics card has no impact on performance.

Let me repeat that in other words: you don't need a fancy graphics card for video editing. You will just be wasting money and power.

You would do just fine buying a $50 graphics card. Pretty much any PCI-e graphics card will do, but I would probably recommend an ATI 34xx series. With the money you save you could buy a bigger monitor, since I see you are already getting a quad core processor. Also another bit of information you might want to know: unless you are planning on highly overclocking your processor, don't spend the extra money on an "extreme" edition.

thanks. also, since this is the video section, can I "mix" PCI-E cards? Like will a 7800GTX work with anything else I put into the other PCI-E for 3 monitors? Do the 2 GPUS need to be same or is it totally irrelevant?
