My car key has a little light in it and i just replaced the battery for it. however the light is still very weak, and i was curious as to how hard it would be for me to replace the bulb with say, a photon bulb. =D

here are photos of the thing.

so how it works is that the black button is on top with the bulb plate in the middle and the battery on the bottom. when you push the buttom the bit of metal on the button goes through the square hole on the bulb plate and comes in contact with the battery, lighting the bulb. The light only goes on when you put pressure on the button and will not stay on.

so yeah, thats about it. hope i gave you guys enough information. thanks a whole lot to anyone who wants to help me out!

Hope that wasn't wired into the Passlock/ECU cutoff mechanism of your ignition, or you're gonna be a little late for work tomorrow.

the other key for the car has no electronics whatsoever, so i'm pretty sure it's just a light...

Replacing the bulb is easy, so if you have to ask I'm wondering if you have the skills to do it. But then there's no time like the present to start learning how.....

1) To solder, that's what you'll have to do to remove the old bulb and replace it with a new one.....and......

2) To observe polarity when soldering the new one on.

That's pretty much it I guess unless I forgot something.

Oh yeah 1 other thing I would clean those contacts on the button they look awfully dirty. Maybe that's what's causing the dimmness. Usually leds last a very long time.

It's probably dim because LED's aren't 3 volt and I don't see any resistors in the circuit, lol...

As soon as I read the topic I knew what kind of car you drive. Nice choice. :)

Listen to what the guys above said, they're correct.
