I want to relocate headphone/microphone jacks.

It has to mount under the ledge on my desk in front of the keyboard tray. It also must have a pass-through for speakers and must silence the speakers when headphones are in use.

I'm sure this product exists in many forms, but I'd like someone to recommend one if you've seen one that would work well suspended with adhesive.

RadioShack sells a fairly simple switch that would do the trick. It does require you manually tap a switch to go from speakers to headphones (or vice versa), but it's compact and fairly elegant.

If you wanted something more automagical (you plug in headphones and it auto-switches), it can be done but I think you'd need to switch to a powered device.

Aluvus has a good suggestion. I have used Radio Shack speaker junction boxes and switches long before computers were common. :)

Thanks. Most devices that auto-sense are completely passive and do not require a power supply. However, most of the ones that I have seen are not sold as a product, but bundled with speakers and include volume controls for the speakers.

The Radio Shack product will do, though I had hoped for something that would not bring more ugly to my setup.

LOL! OK, 1-2-3, just remember ugly or beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Think artistically with a small paint brush. :)
