I want to record games on my computer

I want to record games on my computer. The setup wouldn't be used exclusivly for recording games, as I'd offer my services to my church and work, etc if they needed some low end video editing or digitalization, but that would be it's primary function.

AMD 1700
512 DDR PC2100
20GB 7200

I bought a Geforce2 Ti a while ago, but it has no outs besides the monitor out. I want to do this for as cheaply as possible (i.e. $150 ideally).

Here's what I understand so far; feel free to correct me. Even if I upgrade to a new video card with a tv out, I won't be able to use the monitor and TV at the same time. That's kind of a big deal because my TV and computer are very far apart and my TV is a widescreen HDTV. I could also buy a scan converter and use both the monitor and TV at the same time. Since I won't actually be using the TV in either case, what I mean by TV is VCR which will record the feed. It seems like most scan converters have component and s-video outputs, but my VCR doesn't have any s-video inputs. I'm not sure if any non-SVHS VCRs have s-video inputs and, in any case, it would kinda blow the budget to throw in a new VCR. I do have a second computer which is a pIII-450 with 320 ram and a 13 GB 7200 HD, so I'm wondering if sending the feed from the scan converter to a capture card in the second computer would yield better quality video rather than using RCA cables to connect to the VCR.

I've only been looking into this for the past few days. I know my budget is low, but it could be expanded if much better quality gear is a little more or if I get some other value from the new equipment like a new video card or something. I could use recommendations for specific pieces of equipment since what's on the internet is mostly marketing rhetoric.

Any advice on how to most effectivly accomplish this would be very much appreciated.

i am confused.
what do u mean "to record games on your computer". You mean capture pictures/video from outside source (e.g. TV show) to your computer? or capture the computer game screen with your VCR?

some video cards allow both output to monitor and TV at the same time.

Bring your VCR to your Computer or move your Computer. It will be easy!
