I want to play Need for Speed Underground 2!

Ok, enough about all the FPS talk on here!

Just about the only high performance game that I'll play will be NFSU2, but what will I need to get it playing decently?

Currently, I have (what matters):

AMD64 3000+@2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, Dell FPW2405 (1920*1200 native resolution)

Obviously, I'm looking for a new graphics card. I also realise that I'll have to scale down as probably no current solution can run it at native resolution on the monitor.

Does anyone here play NFSU2? What resolution should I be thinking of running the game at, as this should help greatly in deciding which card to get?

Oh, I'd be looking for a PCI-E solution.

Thanks

Is Underground 2 much better graphics wise than the first one? Because I play that sucker with my msi xpress 200 onboard

You can't play it with full detail with that.

As for the OP's question... it does use DX9 features... so I'd say a 9800 Pro minimum. If you're buying a new card now, I wouldn't go for less than a 6600GT.

Is it the only modern game you will play?

6600GT.

EDIT: on a note, a comp with 2.4Ghz P4, 512RAM and GF4 MX440 seems to play this game quite smoothly (looking over shoulder). With quite a bit of details turned off, I would have to assume, but nonetheless.

You really should be quite fine.

Actually the only thing I'm concerned about is the fact that I have a lack of choices due to the nature of the way that LCDs handle resolutions. Also, being the picky so and so that I am, I'd like to make the game look as good as possible...

It'll most likely be the about the only modern game I play, the only others I can think of would be maybe a few pool games and also Pro Evolution Soccer.

Does anyone have any links to benchmarks for this game?

If its the only game you play, just get a 6600gt.

They're cheap and get the job done.

It should be more than enough.

A64 3000+, 1GB PC3200, 6600GT Pci-E.

i played NFSU2 for about 3 months, and I loved it.

I think I got all the details I needed, even thugh I am not sure about exact setting in the game.

With a 6600GT, 1024x768 with no AA is probably the best you can do, especially given how important high frames/sec are in driving games.

3.06Ghz P4, 512Mb Ram, Ti4200

Played it with full settings except for Full AA.

Ran perfectly. Tho the resolution was at 1024x768.

whats ur budget....ATI cards play this game ALOT better than nvidia cards...so if ur only going to be interested in these games an ATI card should be the deal....if ur budget is around 300 the x800XL would be the card u would want...if its under 200 then the nvidia 6600GT would be the card to get since its kick any card under $200
