You need a registered copy of Half-Life or one of its variants (including the Game of the Year or Platinum editions), and all of the patches to bring it up to the most current version, as well as the large C-S installer. Altogether this is 100-130 MB of downloads, so if you are on dialup it is probably worth just investing in the retail version of C-S, which comes out of the box with everything you need.

yeha, the simplest way would be to just get a cretail copy of CS. but if you have broadband and would like to play the single player half life then get the half life and d/l the cs mod. the mod itself is 80.3mb for cs 1.0.
