I want to over clock my amd duron but can't find pen,

i hear pencil is questionable so i looking for a pen but no luck I have also heard a window defogger works but how is it put on what should I look for does anyone know of a good working pen? has every overclocker used pencil to unlock L1 please help

Apparently pencil does not always work. From the posts I've seen here, conductive ink is the best solution. I just tried pencil myself and it didn't work. Though I haven't tried it a second time, I'm going to buy conductive ink to make sure that the circuit is complete.

You should be able to find the pen at any electronics supply store. You can use a fine tipped brush, like one for detailed model painting, to apply the rear defogger kit.

Go to any automotive parts store and look/ask for a "rear window defogger repair kit" NAPA has them, thats where I always got mine. Made by Permatex I beleive. That is what Compuwiz1 is using and I have used it myself on my CII to connect the vis pins on the cpu itself. Cost $5.00-$7.00.

Go to chemtronics.com website and they have a list of resellers there. I had to try 3 of them before I found on that had the pen in stock. They offer a micro point or a regular point. Micro is the ticket here.

I went to the local RadioShack and the kid behind the counter put the order in for me. It works great.

I used the defogger kit with a sewing needle, it was kind of a pain in the a$$. But it worked great, just make sure you shake it up well first. It only needs to dry ~5 minutes, and it's ready to go.

Defogger's as good as the pen, should last longer than the CPU.

The defogger kit is very easy to use. Make sure that the mixture is mixed up very well (shake and stir), take whatever you used to stir with (coffee stirrer in my case) and put a drop on a piece of paper. Let it sit for a short while, long enough to let some of the fluid soak into the paper. This will leave you with more of the conductive material that will be easier to work with. Take a pin, needle, safety pin, whatever you want to use along those lines and cover the tip of it with the conductive stuff on the paper. Draw on to the bridges. Took about 45 seconds to close the bridges this way. The stuff dries quickly, too. You can have it up and running in no time after closing the bridges.
