The thing is... the account I want to get requires direct deposit or its a $5/month fee.

My College does direct deposit but I'm leaving them in May and then I only have my work, which doesn't do direct deposit. I'm hoping that I find another job by September and if worse comes to worse I just have to deal with a $5/month fee for 4 months (but they give you a $50 account opening bonus so either way I make out!)

Awesome. Opened the account :) We'll see what happens now.

They have hours until 7 on Friday's for the drive through. Thats awesome. Means I can cash my check. Thats all I care about! (I'm done from work at 6).

That extra hour right there makes me want to switch to them permanantly....

I opened a account with them about a year ago. Did so online and haven't yet had to set foot in a physical branch.

Been happy so far.

I"ve had bofa for a while and they've been absolutely great. and you're right, they have a crap ton of branches around. I use my debit card primarily so I got the Alaska air debit card.

Do they have fees for transfers to other banks? I want to transfer money to my ING regularly. Seems like they have a crap load of fees. That may be why they are able to build so many branches

That's what eBill is for. You can set up your ING account as a "Bill" and can readily transfer money to it for free.

No fees to transfer to ING. I do it all the time w/ BoA -> ING...no charges whatsoever.

Been a BofA customer since I got my 1st job. Only bank I've been with other than the credit union for my job. Never had a problem. I have the Prima account. VERSATEL's good too. You get free eBill. Love it.

I do automatic deposit for bills and investment accounts from BofA.
