I live in Boston. I want to get out of college and go into sales. Real estate is sales, so maybe I will consider that

When I was there 5 years ago I noticed that everyone drove inexpensive cars, so I would assume people are less materialistic than Boston.

I'm from the south too, but I lived in seattle last summer for an internship and found the people I met to be really great. Night life I really didn't care much for, but Vancouver is only a few hours away, and going out there is a blast! The mountains are definitely cool, paragliding off Mt. Rainier was really fun, seems like tons of outdoorsy stuff to do.

"why do you wanna move there if you don't even know if it's nice?"

Well I know the scenery is nice, but I want to know if everything else is nice as well.

It's very pretty up there. I was up there a few years back and liked it a lot!

"Really rainy"?

There is less rain in Seattle than in Pittaburgh. In fact, it has less precipitation than many other cities.

Mountains anywhere are beautiful.

The people are nice enough on the surface, but in general they don't open up.

I like Seattle, as far as cities go, it's not all that city-like, which is a good thing.

Drivers here suck though. If you're used to driving in Boston, Seattle drivers will make you furious. They're timid and don't make up their minds and never signal. They also never move to the right lane.

Hmm maybe I went at a bad time. It rained for like 2 weeks straight when I was there a few years ago.

yep,

Typical east coast cities have a lot more rain than Seattle, like Charleston, Miami, Boston, Baltimore, Richmond.

I like it there. Pac NW is great. And like mentioned before, Vancity is only a couple hours away. I lived in Portland for 5 years and enjoyed it very much. Jobs sucked though. Don't know how much it's improved.

It almost never rains from mid-March through October. Winter is rainy, but it's really no different from the grey winters back east, just warmer.

I live in the city north of Seattle... Nice place... Mostly depending on where you live...

If you are an urban type person, maybe commuting to Seattle...

Preferably, if you plan on living in Seattle, live in an apartment in the city or possibly the northern part of Seattle... Since I live in the city next to Seattle, the school district is independent from the Seattle school district. So if your children plan on attending a Seattle school, you have 4 high schools to choose from... in the Shoreline school district, or my district, there is just 1 high school and middle school, depending on which side of the freeway you live on.

For rain... Rain hits from around September to May (or June)... Occasional cloudy and rain in summer too... What sucks more is that most houses here aren't equipped with friggin A/C.... So you'd be burning in the summer.

Ethnicity wise, very good... Starbucks is like a must here for some reason...

As for attractions... Hmm... your on your own... We all know that here lol... Yearly fairs such as the Bite of Seattle occurs at Seattle Center... But... our only amusement park is "Enchanted Village Wilds Waves," which isn't up to par with the other amusement parks like Disneyland...

Paintball parks are nice... but far away... and it rarely snows and sticks... Since our weather is mild... Except if it does, its either in December or in spring. Yet when it does, it lasts for only a few hours to a few days, nothing major. Nice bike trails near Lake Washington... Green Lake is a nice place to run or bike ride. Yeap... Just don't expect really nice sandy beaches like California... Richmond beach near mine... Seaweed and geoducks and such... So its not really a nice sandy beach like the ones you find on Santa Monica...

Oh yeah, Uwajimaya is a tourist attraction even though its a japanese shop lol... Same with Pike Place Market and possibly Gameworks. Then there is Mt Baker, Mt Rainier, and some other places... Leavenworth is a bavarian attraction, although its WAY FAR AWAY OMFG... 4 hour drive. Woo.

I'll probably be in Seattle for the next several years. From what I've seen, it definitely rains more than anywhere else, but the volume of rain is less (it's drizzling all the time). However, it beats -25 degree F weather and 3 feet of snow back home.

The summers are incredible.

EDIT: you do NOT need A/C in Seattle. Of all the places I've been in the US, this is the place you'd need it least. It doesn't get hot enough or humid enough to need it.
