I want to like Prototype

I'm just starting to play Prototype on my 360. I beat inFamous earlier this year and really enjoyed it. I was excited to play Prototype because the majority of opinions I've read said that Prototype was a better game in comparison.

I've only played Prototype for about 45 minutes but I'm very unimpressed with it so far. The powers are boring so far and the graphics/battle system just aren't grabbing.

I'm way early in the game and I don't want to stop playing if it gets a lot better.

Anyone played the game and have an opinion? Or played both?

I've never heard anyone say prototype was either a good game or even close to the quality of Infamous. Where you hearing that at? Ignore all of their opinions from here on out. 🙂

I enjoyed both games, but probably put more time into Prototype (because it took longer to 100&#37😉. Proto does start out kind of slow, and there a few early missions with terrible mission balance. Once you unlock more stuff and can do huge elbow drops, etc (bullet dive was a fav) it picks up. The story is pretty lame though.

I just felt the whole experience with Infamous was great. I really liked the design of the bad guys and the overall art style. The story drew me in as well and I thought the ending was great.

I didn't mind running into bad guys because it was fun to take them out even a million hours in the game.

Prototypes bad guys are little toy soldiers that can't do any damage to you. It's more of a chore to kill them all.

I didn't like Prototype either. Tried playing it after inFamous and found it to be boring. Go play Assassin's Creed II instead.

I am playing that! It's pretty fun. I liked the idea of upgrading the town. I spent a lot of time maxing that out now I have no idea what to do with the money. The game is pretty easy though. I wish I could play it on hard.

After you max out the town, use the money to buy all the weapons, upgrades, paintings, etc. After you get all those though, the money pretty much becomes worthless.

The most annoying thing about the money mechanic in ACII to me was how you go about retrieving it.

Yeah I was hoping for more with the upgrading the town thing. After I upgraded everything I did go out and buy everything from the stores. There was no real point in buying better weapons and armor because the game is so damn easy.

And being able to pickpocket only 8f from people is worthless. And getting 5f from looting a dead body. Those things should be encouraged. With the pitiful results there is absolutely no reason to steal or loot people. That made me sad.

The cities are beautiful though.

I enjoyed Prototype from the smash the crap out of everything standpoint. I played it for quite a while. I bought Infamous afterwards and put maybe 10 hours into before I became bored with it.

I liked Prototype very much. It did start slow, but by the end the powers were pretty crazy. I only played through the inFamous demo a few times, but that looked fun too. I can't state which is better since I haven't played both all the way through, but I had no issues at all with Prototype.

I played Prototype after Infamous, and I found Prototype to be just...tiring. BS after BS after BS just to finish a mission. I did like the speed of Protype, but it just doesnt end. Protect this, gather that, blow up that other thing. Those are things that should have been side missions, but you have to do that over and over to advance the story. Not just in a mission, but like 3 times in the same mission. I think I stopped playing 3/4 through, but it felt like I played long enough to finish GTA4 like 3 times.

Thought prototype was great, but only after you get the glide and most other powers to get through the city quicker. If you keep playing I think you'll see how it improves.

I didn't enjoy Prototype. Compared to InFamous, it just seemed like a mediocre clone. Like the others said, it's tedious (due to poor AI) and the graphics were horrible. I also didn't appreciate citizens telling me to "f-off" in true New York Guido style.

Maybe as a last gen game it would have worked.

I don't know what it is, but these games are so polarizing. If someone likes one, they dislike the other one.

I only played the infamous demo. I didn't care for the demo at all. It soured me on the game and I didn't buy it.

I played Prototype and enjoyed it. Lots of destruction. The difficulty ramps up considerably the last third of the game. I liked the hyperbaric tank and flying the choppers around. There is really no re-playability to it.
