I want to learn how to play guitar .... where do I start?

My friend let me borrow his extra electric guitar/amp so I could learn to play. I'm familiar which music but not really guitar. I know how to play a few power chords, but I don't know any fingerings for chords. What's the best way to start learning? Should I learn the chords first? Are there any *good* websites that teach you how to play? I know there are many out there but what are the good ones?

Learn E, G, A, C, and D chords and the blues pentatonic scale. You'll be pretty much set with those, and can have them under your belt in an hour or two.

The Lessons are ok, but whats cool is all the tablature. I found the best way to learn how to play was to learn some songs that you like and play along with them....good luck...g23
