Hello everyone:

Well I bought a Zantec Heatsink from the For Sale Forum here which includes the appropriate fan for my Radeon 9800 Pro and would like a chance to learn how to overclock it.

I don't even know how to Benchmark it the way it is to see how it's really doing? So if someone can tell me what software to use to try this Benchmarking I'd like to try that as well too so that AFTER I OC the card I can do another Benchmark test on it.

Please remember......... I'M NEW TO THIS so be so kind as to help me with simple and easy to understand instructions. 🙂🙂

thanks

Don't rely on ATI TOOL. It doesn't work right with X800 cards. Use RadClocker and raise your memory by 5MHz until you see strange artifacting then lower it 5MHz until it's clean. D the same with the core until you get hard lockups or crashing to the desktop and then lower it by 5MHz until your games run without issue for hours on end.🙂

I use the Rage 3D Tweak program to OC my 9800pro. You can get it HERE. It's quite easy to use for OCing, but does offer many other features as well.

There are many benchamrking utilities to measure your card's 3D performance. Ex. Aquamark, 3Dmark01 etc. I'll post with some links

GO HERE. You'll see that you can d/l 3d Mark 01, 03, 05 and Aquamark3. BTW The various 3D Mark's test your cards performance under DX 7, DX8, and DX9 IIRC

I downloaded 3DMArk and just tried it out to see what my score would be without doing anything to the Radeon 9800 Pro and it showed a score of 1846.

Now, I have absolutely no idea what that means at all?

Can someone explain if that's good or bad, or whatever............ 🙂

Make sure you have sufficient cooling as well 🙂 Or else there goes your card.

Also, danger I'm running a 9800 pro and i get 2300

Now that I downloaded and used RadClocker I redid my 3DMark and got a score of 1925 with everything set at 384 in RadClocker.

Is this good, better, or what?????

My first score without OC'ing was 1846.

more points is better.

3d mark scores don't solely test out the card. other factors that affect score are CPU, RAM, motherboard, etc.
