i want to know some "fun" ways to learn about networks

i'm taking a networking class right now: learning about routers and IP and what-not.... it's interesting but the material can be dry and we don't get much hands-on experience...

i was wondering if there were any sites that would help me learn more about this stuff in a fun (but legal) way...

example:
i've used some software that scans for folders shared via NetBIOS in dorms all over my school but outside my immediate network (too bad most ppl password protect their folders)
 
yeah i read that in another thread....

does it mean that:
you have no certifications nor education
or
you believe that no certifications=no education?
