A similar computer setup is found here: link. Currently it's running a PIII 500, how would I find the max CPU it can use? I tried googling for the Motherboard model, 0400h (as shown on SiSoft Sandra) but it gives me no indication. I'm assuming if I get another socket (what socket/slot does a PIII 500 use anyways?) CPU which was the same size, it should work, right?

A PIII 500 will run on a 100MHz FSB and will take either a slot 1 or socket370 processor. Usually a motherboard with a slot 1 can accomodate a socket 370 processor by use of a slocket adaptor.

But the link did not work so i couldn't look at your setup.

Hmm. so that means that I can get a slot 370, and either way it'll fit on the board, even if it's a slot 1? In that case, I just need a slocket adapter? Hmm. Intel made it all confusing releasing two chips...I *think* it's a 370, I'm not too sure - it seems like it should be, even search on google with "Compaq 0400h" and "PIII 500" comes up with 370.

Thanks for the linky Scrap.!

if the prcessor is big, black, and wide ( looks kinda like old console gaming system cartridge ) then it's a Slot 1 P3 KNI. uses 100 MHz bus..

or if it's shaped like a box and had a lot of pins on the other side then it's a socket 370 P3. some use 100 MHz bus and most used 133 Mhz bus...
