Heh, heh. Need a little more detail than that: Time horizon, risk tolerance, $ to invest, current investment profile, etc.

The Janus numbers have always looked good. I've had money in Washinton Mutual for a long time though.

Well, I want to put a sub $1000 investment in to start and add to it every month, for the long term, I have bought stocks in the past but got out at the beginning of the recession. I have an account with Ameritrade.

Russel 5000 or the total US stock market index from one of the large companies like Vanguard. Low fees, almost no taxes from sales, indexed so no worry about managementand represents the US economy. Probably the best place for a long term investor who is not deep into the subject on a daily basis. If you want to learn investing read the books on the bobbrinker.com web site of recommended reading.
