I want to install generic drivers for ps/2 keyboard / mouse

I helped a friend redo his system but he had issues with using his keyboard / mouse after it was done because I used a usb keyboard/mouse combo to setup windows. I had to go over his place and use my usb keyboard while the ps/2 was connected just to get Windows to install the drivers

Now I've put together another PC out of old parts and I would like to avoid the same predicament. I tried adding the drivers through Add Hardware but I didn't see any generic drivers for ps/2 input devices.

Any suggestions? I only have USB devices.

All you should need to do is turn on PS/2 keyboard support(if you can) in bios. No drivers needed.
