Do you think it would be good to get a major in computer science and a degree in programming? or other way around? or what else would you suggest?

A degree in porgramming? Isn't CS a major that that pretty much says you have a degree in programming?

I go to NU. I take Computer Engineering. The school is alright. I dont get why people want to come here so badly. Aside from COOP, this school has nothing to pit it self against other schools.

Northeastern is also a rip off school. Very expensive...

If you're looking for slighty cheaper education, you can look at Wentworth Institute of Technology which is right next to Northeastern. They also offer bachelor degree of Computer Science. They have coop program there also.

Not a bad school beside the big ratio different of man and woman. I think it's 80% man and 20% woman. LOL

Yeah but you have plenty of high ratio chick schools in that area too though (Simmons / Wheelock) so it kinda compensates for the lack of chicks at WIT.

Exactly... You can take courses at Simmons and Wheelock during your regular semester at Wentworth, because they are grouped together and called themselves colleges of Fenway.

Out of all the major schools in Boston not counting state, like BU, BC, Harvard, Tufts, Northeastern is the cheapest, and not really expensive compared to other large private schools, plus if your in the right major you could make a killing on co-op.

i would not go that far. NU is about 10k cheaper than BU and like BigDog said, it is among the cheapest universities in Boston.

Not that big of a deal. Lots of colleges let you take classes at other schools. NU lets you take music courses at Berklee college of music.

yeah, my cousin is a Junior in MIS and she got a $21/hr co-op job. Makes me want to join MIS.

Now that I think of it however, NU actually is a really good school for CS (yes, Computer Science AND Counterstrike). They are one of the harder schools in the university to get into though. Correct me if i am wrong, but NU was one of the first schools to have a school dedicated to Computer Science or something like that (if you ever been into their CS building, you can see that the building is porbably one of the older ones on campus. ATleast they get a new building next year). A good number of people who graduate from CS here end up at Microsoft, but that could be luck on NU's side and that may not be a good thing. Lots of the CS faculty come from presigious schools like Brown and MIT (for some odd reason, the business school has some MIT graduates. Maybe they teach MIS), but I was taught by one of teh professors who came from Brown, and that class was not pleasent at all. For CS and Business, I can see NU as a really good choice. For Engineering though, I would advise people to weigh your options.
